I was originally gonna get Halo 3, but my friend told me about Mass Effect. I looked at the graphics for Mass Effect and I was starting to lean over to that game, but then my friend told me it was only single player. That made me lean back over to Halo 3 because of it's Co-Op and easy controls, but he said that it's one of the best games he's ever played. Also, I heard that Halo 3 is boring unless you get X-Box Live, and I'm not gonna have X-Box (except for the trial). So, any suggestions??

Mass Effect is a great game. And thats coming from a Halo 3 fanboy so it means something. Even though I'm a Halo 3 person, it gets boring after awhile. And if they make a Halo 4 then you'll be able to tell they're just milking the money. So again, MASS EFFECT ALL THE WAY!!!1!!!111one!!! :smirk: (lol)

Are you a Rpg fan or a FPS fan? Those are probably the bigger questions to consider. Mass Effect has a larger story by far, while Halo 3 finishes a chapter in the halo universe. Personally, I got very, very bored with Halo 3 after the short single player champaign. I've never been a big online gamer, with my lack of time. Your call, but my bet is on mass effect.

If you don't have Xbox Live don't even think about getting Halo 3 because it isn't worth it.
Obviously you like playing by yourself so get Mass Effect.

Get Gears of War. It's the worst of both worlds.

If I had the choice, I would buy Mass Effect myself. Halo 3 is the basic Halo gameplay just a little different (and more polished). Mass Effect is a completly new experience.

Halo 3, because I find Mass Effect hard to "get into".

Odd coming from me, but Mass Effect. That, and the rag-doll with the high explosive rounds is ridiculous. :D

Yeah, I'm in agreement with the general sentiment in this thread. If you don't have xbox live, it's definitely not worth it to get Halo 3. It will get boring fast. But I've never played Mass Effect so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Yeah, Mass Effect does look really good, but I've got a lot of cousins (almost all of them) who like Halo, and I don't want to bore them with a single player game. Damn it, this is a pretty hard decision. :(
Other than just pointing out that Mass Effect's storyline is better than Halo 3's, can you tell me some other comparisons also?
Thanks.

Graphically, Halo is more subtle but when you stop to appreciate it, it sinks in. Mass Effect is, save for a few parts, always pretty. Both have amazing sound and both play well for the fans of their genres.
I have both, and I play Halo 3 more, only because my friends will beat me over the head with a table if I don't. Mass Effect is really fun and hooked me for 4 plays through, but when I took a break from it, I don't feel like going back to it except if I feel some strange desire to play it.
Halo 3 has greater longevity but it also has its own set of problems. Mass Effect was consistently fun and entertaining, so it really depends on what genre you like more and if your cousins mind.
