well ive seen a lot of movies and i cant pick a favorite
every movie is different and i love it for a different reason
but i would say my top 5 of 2007 would have to be
The Bucket List-very good film, made me cry, awesome storyline
Juno-very funny real life situations, awesome actors
Superbad-its a classic, super funny
knocked up-again, another classic, very funny
Atonement-Beautiful storyline awesome movie
I dont really have a favourite film, but when I am asked to pick one I usually say The Dambusters (old, black and white)
I choose it as a reaction to just about every "historical" film since, which have tended to be about as accurate as a spastic with a machinegun and nothing to rest it on. Whereas The Dambusters gets most of its facts right.

Ooh, tough one. Probably 'Sideways'.
It's funny without trying too hard, the acting is terrific, and the score by Rolfe Kent is great, and the characters are likeable, even though they're losers.

Hmm, it's tricky. I LOVE the Matrix Movies, and King Kong (1930s and recent). But I also LOVE the Blade Movies (am I the only one that was disappointed with Blade 3?), Star Wars Movies, Lotr Movies, Meet the Parents and a tonne of other movies like L4yer Cak3, Casino Royale oooo... the Jason Bourne Movies! Aaaa! Too many movies to think of.

The Condemned, because it was quite entertaining to watch the criminals get picked off one by one. And at the end, Steve Austin blows up the helicopter in which I got a laugh out of that. I also laughed at the part at the beginning when all the criminals were getting dumped on the island, then the one criminal falls on a spike. ;)

Gladiator and Batman Begins are my current favorites. I guess it's the sense of honor that is depicted, and fighting for what you believe in. I get inspired by both.
Schindler's List.
No words can describe it.

Zardoz
It's probably the most artistic and symbolic movie I have ever seen. Different times that I see it I always come out with some different message, some different theme of the movie, and it's not contrived at all.
plus it's got the best song of all time featured throughout the entire movie, beethovens second movement of the 7th symphony. *creams pants*
plus sean connery is front and center *creams pants again*

I originaly said Hot Fuzz but recent events have created a tie
A 1980s New Zealand film which used every kiwi joke imaginable, it revolutionised NZ films forever, with only a total cast and crew of 28 and partial nuidity

LOTR - It's basicly one story told in 3 movies becaues otherwise it's to large, so imo it's one fucking big movie.
Also good movies imo are K-19 Widowmaker, The Matrix - Smith fucking pwns, and the first 2 movies from the Alien-quadrogy (lol?)
There are probably more that I like but I only remember these at the moment.
@Zenox: I thought personally that independance day was a horrible horrible movie, but meh, taste differs.

Aliens.
I identify with burke, and ash(alien). why does he have to die a horrible smiling death.
seriously, those things smile when they kill you.
but they're so beautiful, so deadly...i want one as a pet.
"So you want to fire me...say hello to my not so little friend!!!"
second would be Monty Python and the Holy Grail
"thou shalt blow thine enemies to bits, in thy mercy"
"she turned me into a newt... ... ... I got better"

Since I find it hard to rate movies against each other, I figured out a neat metric. If I go to watch a movie (in the theatre) and I spend the entire time engrossed in it, not once considering the fact that I'm actually in a theatre looking on a screen - but I'm really in the movie the whole time, then it goes on my all-time-best list.
The only ones on there at the moment are: Romeo + Juliet, Titanic, Der Untergang.

That's a pretty good gauge, TheBB. I usually get too miffed at character/writer/plot stupidity to really enjoy a film. :)

Fight Club
The Royal Tannenbaums
The Matrix
Apocalypse Now
Gladiator
Aliens / Predator
Best of the Best (Kumate, Rocky, etc)
Transformers
I liked Batman Begins, it was definitely an awesome Batman movie, I just don't know if it was epic.
1. Umm.. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Hoth. Meeting Yoda. Han Solo in the asteroid belt. Cloud City backstab. Luke vs. Vader... and it's his father! It doesn't get better than that.
Other notables:
2. Troy. Hercules vs. Hector. 'Nuff said.
3. Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. Amazing choreography in the duels. I love Palpatine's character - so fucking devious. I wouldn't trust him to save my seat while I go to the bathroom, that's how fucking devious he is.
4. Predator. "Hey man, you're bleedin'." "I ain't got time to bleed." You just know shit is gonna get fucked up after those lines. Who know it was a friggin' alien in the jungle. Some guy who developed this movie came up with the main story, then went way off on a tangent and was like -- hey what if there is some bad ass invisible alien killing people and hanging their bodies up in the jungle instead of having Arnold go bust up a bunch of coked out drug dealers in some backwater 3rd world country, yeah that sounds like a good movie..
5. Big Trouble in Little China. If you haven't seen this, do it. You know what ol' Jack Burton always says..
6. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. All the good shit happens here - the baddies get owned, the heroes kick ass, and Gandalf rallies Middle Earth against Sauron.
7. X-Men: X2. Soooo much better than the first one (although I miss Toad and Sabretooth), lot's more fighting and the story is still good. Too bad X-Men 3 sucked.
8. The Notebook. Fuck you, fucking naysayer. Go get a girlfriend and then we'll fucking talk.
9. Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Uh, hello? T1000? That shit was amazing.
10. Mad Max: The Road Warrior. Probably the best action packed post apocalyptic movie I've ever seen. Plus he has a friggin' dingo.

2: Holy Grail.
First time I watched it, I literally laughed for 2 days. Hilarious.
3: LOTR triloj
Other than /completely/ missing Tom B. and the Barrows, mostly accurate to the storyline, very good acting, sick armies :D

A difficult question for me... Btw, GA, good selection.
Pi (I like messed up non mainstream movies)
Requiem for a Dream (I like messed up non mainstream movies)
The Matrix (i mean... srsly...)
Half Baked (a proper comedy)
Anchorman (a proper comedy with Will Ferrel)
Trainspotting (..Brit period.)
Event fucking Horizon (!!!)
The Company of Wolves (I like messed up non mainstream movies)
The Island (I like massive highway scenes)
Bad Boys II (yeah yeah, I like it, so what)(I like massive highway scenes)
Cloverfield (hated the 1st 20 minutes type of O.C. shit, but i see it as a decent new film)
Cloverfield's presence is a substitute for all apocalyptic movies that I like all the same.

These three are the best!
Event Horizon, I mean, an awesome horror! A haunted space ship that traveled into a black hole and once it come back, the crew is mutilated and tortured. However, Cloverfield was quite different, has the "blair witch" point of view. Also, I forgot the awesomeness of the Matrix.
I liked Beowulf, because of the next-gen movie graphics.

For me, my favs are:
The Rundown -- awesome action (better then all the Matrix's, Die Hard's, what-have-you's and 300 put together) and hilarious.
Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back -- most epic of all the Star Wars movies.
Men In Black -- Funny. Extremely funny.
Serenity -- if anything deserves to be labeled as a "classic" it's this movie.
I forgot Serenity - great movie. I have the Firefly show too, such a great show they cancelled way too early ;p
Also, Event Horizon is fucking sick. My sister and I watched that when we were like 12.. ruined my life I tell you. Fucking wrong for a couple of kids to watch.. just wrong..
Ooo! Serenity! Forgot that one.
