Alright guys, what Video Card is best for gaming Nvidia or ATI? And I don't care how much of a fan boy you are of either ATI or Nvidia, Please, honest answers. Out of these two-

BFG GeForce 8800 Ultra OC / 768MB GDDR3 / SLI Ready / PCI Express / Dual Link Dual DVI / HDTV / Video Card

GeCube Radeon HD 3870 Video Card - 512MB GDDR4, PCI Express 2.0, CrossFireX Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV, HDMI , Video Card

I've found nVidia to be the better card for gaming. Benchmarks have shown that they're usually more powerful and the only game I can think of that is actually designed for an ATI card is Half-Life 2 and it's add-ons and Portal.

Hmmm, I have been googling around and found this .... Although im not sure if the information is.... accurate.

http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/10/09/directx_10_shootout/page2.html

This is for DX 10 only.

And I quote-

"In the lower performance segment, the Geforce 8600 currently looks like the better choice than the Radeon 2600. Specifically, we would recommend the 8600 GT, which can be found for as little as $120 as a standard version and $130 as an OC variant. Alternatively, you could also go with a Radeon HD 2600 XT with 256 MB."

But Intel only makes integrated graphics chips, and integrated graphics... well, they suck. If Linux compatibility is an issue, nVidia cards work just fine.

But yeah, from everything I've heard the GeForce cards are superior in both price and performance.

If you want to produce 3d graphics however, ATI offers nicer textures and etc.

NVidia. Their cards usually run somewhat faster, and many gaming companies (Valve, most recently) develop games to take full advantage of NVidia cards.

I have encountered less faults with ATI cards, I believe the better workmanship goes to ATI. As to what chip is faster/better, I really don't know.

NVidia certainly doesn't have longevity in their cards, for sure. Heating issues and general crappiness have plagued them since the Riva days.

Let's get a Voodoo 5 going - I could use a turn back to simpler times.
