I haven't been here for a while lately. I was away for the holidays. I just wanna show some random stuff I've been cooking up at home.

This is a Zealot test animation

All of these are nothing short of incredible. My personal favorite is the Vulture; you really seem to have captured the raw speed design and the slightly worn-out yet contemporary look of it. Good Job on all fronts!

Funny I haven't really worn it out yet with a bit more texture work. But thanks, I appreciate it :)

I was just talking in another post on these forums about you. :P

Consistency is your main thing right now. You lack it. Some things look good, other's do not.

Your ghost is still clearly the best thing you've done thus far. Compared with that the rest of these look OK at best. The zealot in the backyard is a nice idea and you could make it work but it's just too "cheap" looking right now. (you should know what I mean)

The vulture needs texture and shader work. I can't tell if you did anything I suggested in your previous thread due to the lighting. (not a bad idea however the execution could be done slightly better I think) I know you've already said you're not done with the texturing but I'm not quite all for the look you seem to be trying to pass. You've probably seen the blizzard one I'm sure. Less shiny, more matte'.

The wraith is meh. I liked your old one better. (ofc most of the render's I've seen of it have been dark so I can't make a 100% pure judgment call)

And the HL2 pic doesn't have the correct feel to it. Half-Life2 is a grungy, dirty, worn out game. Your look depicts it as being shiny and "clean". I know that's what you were aiming for so this is just my opinion on the look of it.

I don't mean to sound harsh, mean, rude, or overly blunt however I was expecting a little more after I saw the ghost.

You know my comments towards both the zealot and the wraith models. :)

As for the zealot scene, it looks very nice, but a couple of things seem odd about it. For one thing the zealot is very very small, it should be about 9 or 10 feet tall and it really doesn't look it. Also the eyes I think should be glowing, they look rather flat and clay-like here as does some of the skin. Lastly, the hand has a motion blur as if the zealot is moving, yet the nerve-appendages are vertical and unmoving. Given how flexible they are at least in SC2, it looks sort of odd. Good job anyway though, and the wraith model will always be great (w00tawesomeness/w00t), even though I think the textures are weird. :D

@U-238, what blizzard vulture? The only official references for this version (i.e., not the SCG one) I could find were the manual render, sprite, and cinematic where you can't see anything. :/

The one in the manual is the one I'm talking about. Surprisingly a quick google search didn't turn it up. In the Prima SC64 strat guide there's a decent sized one. If I had a scanner I'd upload it but alas. Therein lies yet another technology I've yet to lay my hands on. :(

He uses 3ds max mainly.

hey sgthk, nice work !

every post you send, its gets better :P When is the zealot going to bash someone ? Your vulture is impressively sleek, but doesn't yet look like a fighting machine, more like a Harley of the future! Where are the killing devices ? Nice bolts on the nose and handles though, thats the kind of details that the eye loves.

Get the final textures up on your wraith so we can see it in its full glory !
Love the interface details of the green displays around the ghost !

give us more !

Well, the vulture was a civilian hovercycle I think, just with a grenade launcher oon it for militia forces, so that makes sense.

As MoH said to me before, the scratches on the wraith should be more concentrated at the front and the vulture's engines should be squarish to match the official render on the game manual. I never really got off to have a head start on his suggestions (sorry MoH :( ) because I was working with other stuff. The wraith and vulture pictures are about 5-6 weeks old actually. I'm planning to make the vulture's textures as detailed as the ones on the wraith as soon as I can get back to modelling again.

That's agreeable ;)

So that's what's been missing in this pic all this time....

I use 3ds Max on every render. Though I model organic stuff on another program called MudBox and then import the finished models to 3ds Max for final renderings :)

XD, dude you have no idea of how n00by that Ghost model is if you could just get a clearer look at it. I made that model primarily for use in the campaign selection screen where it won't be seen up close. It has alot of uneccesary polygons, bad rigging, and simple textures. It bothered me that many people seem to like it so much, lol. But if people really love this design, I could always remake the model.

Good point you never did post the wire. Still, from what I've seen of it, it looks to be one of your better workings.
