I'm looking for 1, possibly 2 really dedicated (or, at the least, people more active then I am on the wiki) to take over the general clean up and maintenance of the wiki.

Not to many things I'm looking for except for the following:

You must know who Edge is.
You must be active on the wiki, currently, or in the last couple of weeks
Furthermore, you must be willing to add to the wiki, turn it into something better then my half-assed job ended up.
Basically, you've got be a vet. Preferably of both Blizzforums and Warboards. I would really like to see a BF history section like Warboards/ORG has, (for reference, the Org Histories was by BSTRhino)
Knowledge of MediaWiki (Wikipedia), HTML/CSS would definitely be good.
Along with #3, be willing to update the current events with various stuff happening around warboards or sc.org (modding projects, rp, any wb groups/game parties, etc...)

Note: This position will promote you on the wiki only. You will not be given staff access or anything here on Warboards. Seeing as the wiki is "unofficial" (at the moment) it's currently still my pet project. As such I'd like to see it get updated and actually used.

Basically your job will be to administrate the wiki, add content, clean up spam, delete stuff that doesn't belong, edit new entries, etc...

I've been going through my own website, various projects I started and didn't finish, and I decided the wiki deserved more attention then I can give it.

If you are interested, and qualify according to the list further up, feel free to post here or contact me =)

Anyone else, post anyways. I'd like to know if anyone has any suggestions for the wiki. Would be kind of interesting would be to see the Modders make more use of it. I always had this idea of modding projects having their own entry describing what it was/is, who worked on it, some history, download locations, etc...

Wiki could use more content as well -- funny stuff or serious, both are good!

Remember that anyone can join the wiki and contribute!

:)

Well, Edge is the nickname of an MIA administrator, Edgewize (I'm pretty sure), who's been inactive since February 2006. That's as far as I know. I've got the skills, but not the time, unfortunately. Sorry. I'll add info to the wiki if I can though. Good luck with the project!

Man I would love to do this but I don't think I would be more active than you. =\
GL though.

You guys are just so totally lame :(

"i'd love to but not!"

Thanks for the comments though. Even 2 people who aren't that active is > 1 person who's not that active xP

I'll add to and edit the wiki and its content for sure, but I don't think I can do administrative jobs right now. And who is Edge, by the way? I never got an answer.

Yeah its edgewize... was schwitzer given the admin spot to fill in for him.

Edgewise was part of the first great triumvirate as was fenguin and AJ.

Though I do know allot about this place, I am not a vet here or at blizzforums.

But if you want a n00bish hard worker, I'd be more than happy to contribute.

So, how do we add pages to the wiki? I'd like to take a crack at wiki'ing by putting my own page on there.

I would put my name out there, but I saw that massive spam fest that happened over the weekend. You think I wanna clean that up? Now we know why Neo is looking for a replacement. =p

I kid, I kid.

Meh, I might be up for it. What's the expected time commitment?

Neo, I would be happy to assume administrative duties on the Wiki. Seeing all that spam makes me sick.

Not to many things I'm looking for except for the following:

1. You must know who Edge is.
2. You must be active on the wiki, currently, or in the last couple of weeks
3. Furthermore, you must be willing to add to the wiki, turn it into something better then my half-assed job ended up.
4. Basically, you've got be a vet. Preferably of both Blizzforums and Warboards. I would really like to see a BF history section like Warboards/ORG has, (for reference, the Org Histories was by BSTRhino)
5. Knowledge of MediaWiki (Wikipedia), HTML/CSS would definitely be good.
6. Along with #3, be willing to update the current events with various stuff happening around warboards or sc.org (modding projects, rp, any wb groups/game parties, etc...)
1. Hell yes I do.
2. I am semi-active on the wiki. I try to check it at least once a week. Usually, and hopefully, more. Although I do not always actively edit stuff, I can definately increase my work hours there.
3. I am indeed willing to out-perform you Neo. :P
4. Well, I have been a member since January 05, and I have a good knowledge of WB. I have only been to BF a couple times though.
5. Yes I have a pretty decent knowledge of MediaWiki, and I do know at least basic HTML/CSS.
6. Sure. Absolutely. I assume that this means I am actually going to have to visit all the various forums looking for interesting tidbits? YAY! :D

P_H is probably the front runner. I know he checks up and fiddles with the wiki pretty often anyways, so it's not like it'd be anything to extra.

Modred: Time commitment? Nothing really.

The BARE minimum you'd have to do is check the page every 1-2 days (The recent changes page) and make sure there's no spam.

I might also want you to activate new users accounts, because we have been having a spam issue, but that might come later.

If you are interested please be aware that I need you to also be independent. Yes you can contact me at any time for any reason, but I also need you to realize, for instance, if someone is spamming, it's ok to ban them forever. Or to know that you can delete that page, or that the front page should stay locked -- and/or you can edit thefront page.

I want to turn the wiki over to someone who will actually take it and do stuff with it, you know? Someone who will actually run it. >.>

if that makes any sense :p

Also it'd be cool to start an advertising campaign for our wiki as well, get it out to those newer members who don't know about it, or the regulars who've forgotten about it.

And if you're good with directions/php/RTFMing, I might just give you ftp access to, so you can affect core changes/upgrades when necessary. But for the forseeable that kind of work will be on me.

Note that as admin-level members on the wiki, you can edit the CSS file, and even the sidebar menu (from the wiki itself). As well as edit any page, locked or not.

Although I do hold some information, I can't possibly be one of the men to look out for the ORG wiki. Sorry though, just don't have the time for this. :(

I was kindly informed on ORG Wiki by Gortarzis and Kongurous today and I created an account there and am interested in "applying". :P I'm an administrator or bureaucrat on 12 Wikia wikis, and am very familiar with HTML (templates, infoboxes, the works) and have experience with CSS, PHP, and JS editing the MediaWiki interface. Because of my administrator work on Wikia, I'm also intimately familiar with fighting vandalism, fighting spam, and also handling large communities well. Those credentials enough? :P I've also been a Wikipedia editor for over a year if that counts for anything, and have been on Warboards for over a year and have been a StarCraft.Org fan fiction moderator (SCO staff) and have been on SCO for over two years.

So, erhm, AJ. Yeah, I'm interested. :P

Regards,

X9, StarCraft.Org Fan Fiction Moderator
