Is rockband worth getting for the $170 price tag, and how much better is it that Guitar hero, if it is?

I played it some in the store, and the drumming seemed far too easy. The guitars, on the other hand, were difficult, but not from complexity. Rather, the timing seemed off; I'm not sure if I should blame the game or the store's controllers, although it was probably the latter.
Anyway, while it's novel, I don't think it's quite worth all the hype, now that I've tried it. Is it worth the money? Maybe.

Just got it this Christmas. I had exactly the same doubts as you. Drumming is quite hard when you crank it up to hard and occasionally it is hard even on medium difficulty. The Guitar is a LOT easier than Guitar Hero. The bass adds a nice new dimension, and the vocals are very nice to play as.
If you can get a group of friends together to play this, (three-four friends) it is amazing. Solo tour is nice, but it just doesn't click as well as a Band World Tour. If you don't have many willing friends, stick with Guitar Hero III.

I think it's fucking stupid.
The only reason you should get it is if you regularly have multiple people waiting for their turn at guitar hero, this way you can get 2x the amount of turns in at once.
But I would still rather play guitar hero, it has better songs.

/agreed with mag
get rock band if you have multiple friends who are always over wanting to play guitar hero
if you usually play with yourself(according to the situation gentlemen -_-)then i suggest getting guitar hero

guitar hero is no fun by yourself, why would you even do that? the only reason i can think of is so that you can impress your friends later with your sick skills in a one-on-one battle. which is already a pretty lame way to be impressing people.

I already have guitar hero so im fine there, but which console do you think rockband would be better on, seeing a ps3 has wireless but, no guitar hero guitar support.

Hmm...I personally like the 360, just because I don't have a PS3. I have played the PS3 version, and the wireless guitar is nice, but otherwise I felt the drums were slightly less responsive, may have just been the TV calibration.

the drums are by no means easy at all. the only reason it was "easy" for you was because you didn't have to do the bass drum in the store.
btw i play drums IRL and i was ranked 60 overall on Enter Sandman on expert so i know what i'm talking about.

You can't quite base it on those exact things.Cause IF you have friends but, are lets say torcherd by your parents or legal guardians then uhh you aren't gonna be able to play to much are you.
Now ofcourse if you have no friends its not friend I agree then get Gutiar hero 3 but,I think you will atleast have 1 friend.(unless your a hobo lol)
Now if a party HARD kid then yeah kid rockban.
Me I like GH3 for the online play and taking it to my friends its a all around game.(plus the tunes are fucking cool).
