I currently have 36 stars 3? (maybe 4) grand stars. Lately I've been messing around in the Punch Bowl Galaxy trying to get the secret stars.

My favorite world so far has been punch bowl galaxy and the Airship Fleet worlds (throwback to SMB3 is cool). I was skeptical of the gameplay of Mario Galaxy, and I thought it would be too hyped. But I was dead wrong. Probably the best game I've played this year.

I also got Super Paper Mario but I haven't opened it yet. My Wii console started out not getting played when I bought it (my wife hasn't gotten into playing it much with me), and I couldn't really get into Zelda:TP. But Mario Galaxy is just amazing and draws you in.

The only con I really don't like, which is also a pro, is the small amount of time it takes to get stars. You can really get a star in like > 5 minutes. But thats also a pro, since you are constantly being rewarded so you always feel like you are making progress.

Also, how all reviews say Mario Galaxy is literally fun to play, I agree. In a lot of games these days I have some fun, but mostly I feel like I'm doing work. Examples -- FF12 I had a lot of time where I felt like I was working to get to the next fun part in the game, like getting stuck in the story just so I could move on to the next hunt. In XenoSaga I had to level a lot as well but the story was way more fun. In Star Wars Episode 3, I felt like each stage was just busting up generic storm trooper clones to get to the neat boss fights. In Lego Star Wars, the puzzles with the driods really irked me so much that I quit playing for days/weeks at a time so I didn't get pissed and quit.

I'd say the really only other new fun game I've played this year that even compares to Mario Galaxy would be Star Wars Battlefront 2. Maybe I'm just bored with RPG's and need to throw in action/adventure/FPS games every so often to not get bored. Who knows.

Anyways, sorry about going off on that tangent. Who here has Mario Galaxy? How far are you? What galaxy did you/do you like best? Most memorable moment so far?

I also have Super Mario Galaxy and it is quite good. I have 50+ Stars, 3 Grand Stars, and I am working on really just clearing every star right now, rather than finishing the game. I must say the first time I played the Good Egg galaxy, I was blown away by planetary gravity and the like. Running around spherical worlds and having gravity change on you in the blink of any eye rivals the physics and innovation of Portal in some respects. Battle Rock galaxy, with the chrome disks, can be very...interesting. Just run to the edge and jump off, and fall to the other side.
The whole experience is really nice. Super Mario Galaxy is a great Mario Package, and I consider it to be a true successor to Super Mario 64.

I got to 100+ stars, at which point I hit a boss I couldn't beat and I gave up.

I almost have my 90th star, it gets annoying when u cant find a "Secret Star", I will play it till 120 stars seeing as how the reward is awesome :)

Super Luigi Galaxy is the reward, apparently. And what a reward it is. One new player model! Sweet!

Still, any reward is better than Yoshi.

Edit: Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw has posted another one of his satirical reviews on The Escapist, covering, of course, Super Mario Galaxy. He sounds hungover and muffled, but still a laugh nonetheless.

Super Luigi Galaxy is the reward

I know what the reward is, i didnt say it cause at another forum there was a huge bitch fight about people spoiling that

I'd find it deeply dissapointing if I thought there would be something bigger or better than Luigi in the game after the 120 star/Bowser defeat. Still, it is a nice little reward, certainly better than the 99-1up \ single Yoshi appearance.

Well, I beat it with 60 stars. After I play a few more games I got for x-mas, I will go back and get the rest of the stars (or however many I can.. I don't use guides or FAQs so I doubt I'll be able to find them all). Thanks for ruining the extra for me guys btw ;p

I love the boss fight music. So dramatic!

I found all 120 without any difficulty. Now actually earning a few could be difficult, but all in all it only took me 2 weeks to go from no stars to finished with all 120 as Mario.

Of course, you can only get the last 15 in the purple comet missions, which apparently only appear after beating Bowser the first time. In other words, don't turn off the system when the credits roll; wait till they're over and save the game. ;)

I beat it last weekend and the ending is epic, for a Mario game. They could have doubled the life of the series if there was a cliffhanger at the black hole scene. Millions of dollars could have been made.

On to Twilight Princess.
