The life of a musician can be an interesting one. Always trying to find music that challenges and pushes the player to a newer and higher level of playing; always trying to learn some sort of aspect of music that hasn't been attempted yet; to find new music that's enjoyable.
For the past two to three weeks, I've been doing just that; looking for music to challenge me. I am currently self teaching theory and that is as fun as it is challanging and difficult. It's fun to learn new things and find out what you're missing.
How the music search started for me was when I was looking for reviews on the DS Zelda game: The Phantom Hourglass. I came upon this particular site that had all the Zelda games listed and various links affilated with them. All of which had cheats, codes, secrets to be revealed, game faqs, yadda, yadda, and music. I really loved the music for the earlier Zelda games I had played - Ocarina of Time would be the one - so I looked into it. Disappointingly, the link was a loop back to the same page I was on. I never found that site again. But I googled the Ocarina of Time for sheet music and you wouldn't believe the stuff it gave me. Well, you could, but that doesn't make the story sound as interesting.
Some sites I came to also had other game music, like: .hack//sign, Final Fantasy, Ruoroni Kenshin, Pokemon (ftw), and even some Beethoven. Now, I've got a stack of music that I'm going through that's almost an inch thick! I also found some tetris music. That's fun to play :D
So, that's where I've been for the last while, searching out music before the holidays so I can laern to play them. Some are accurate; others are near but some rythms are are not entirely correct, but suffice. My favorites to play are Fur Elise and Moon Senada, Tetris theme A and C, Gerudo Valley from Ocarina of Time, and Pokemon title theme from Red and Blue version (GBC). Still looking for others. A lot of the Pokemon music I like, so I think I'll look more into those. Not to mention that I have the game, and a cord that has two "male" ends on it; which allows me to go from the headphone jack on the gaeboy to the back of my computer for recording :D I plan on mapping some of the music from there too :3
Well, that's my music life in a small nutshell... well, one compartment anyway. Music festival is coming up, I've got the music, now just to practice the horn and play in March-ish.
