I wonder what they will look like and if they will attack you.
You would think the bengalash from the first one wouldve attacked you.
But we shall have to wait and see :cry:

For the gazzilionth time, critters that attack are called creeps, they are something else.

While I would not want creeps to be as common as they were in WC3, I don't think it would be horrible to have a few guarding a yellow mineral deposit or some such.

Exactly. Creeps as implemented in WC3 wouldn't work. Most of them were actual, sentient species. But that topic belongs in the Species discussion threads. Creeps as in animals would be fine, and kind of fun.
this is not warcraft 3 with creeping. This is starcraft. Most likely none of the critters will have means of attacking. Well, there might be a few for each terrain type for unknown purposes, but they'd hardly be used.

That's what we are saying. Creeps should not be like in Warcraft, where you guaranteed to see them in a game, but they should exist, and should be usable in melee maps. It would be an interesting twist of gameplay. That doesn't mean that creep have to be on all maps/

Agreed. A bit of UMS creeping (maybe like that UMS map where you had to hunt animals for the EWOK guild?) couldn't really do a lot of harm.
Of course, it's entirely possible that the new editor will allow us to create critters with an attack anyway, so it won't be necessary for Blizzard to actually implement them, it'll just require some modding knowledge to put it into single map.
If Blizz' will make the critters have the attack animations in their models already but not to have attacks on itself, then it would be a singe to pull it off. ;) (Am obviously speaking with my WC3-TFT mapping knowledge upon this matter. :))
But where's the fun in that? ;p

I think that critters in SC2 should attack, but only when "pissed off", which means going to near, crossing their line of sight or another things that may be classified as "pissing someone off".

..that's what Creeps do anyways. They automatically attack you when you cross their line of sight. Maybe just if you openly attack them?

You obviously don't realise how much hard work it involves to make models n' respective animations for WC3-TFT. It's a ton of tweaking around 3D model editing. ;p
Although that game's editor has a lot of great potential when compared to the SC-BW's ones it also demands a lot more expertise to deal around all its parts (object editing n' triggering just not to mention the external modelling apps to make the new models).
Edit add: And if they add creeps (critter based) I think that most of'em shouldn't atack us unless provoked.
If they're not critter based then I think that the rest applies, even though ain't that fond of such a concept for the SC universe (in melee at least). :P
I would "accept" creeps in SC2 if they only attacked you when you attack them. Like if they are hanging around chilling and preventing you from expanding to a yellow mineral expansion you have to kill them in order to build your CC/Nex/Hatch.
