Okay, so I recently got myself into this DJing stuff, and since I'm a newbie, can any of you guys recommend a good DJing software and a nice site where I can get most of my resources (i.e. loops, music, etc.)?

Currently, I have these two softwares:
Adobe Audition 2
Cool Edit Pro 2
Virtual DJ

Thanks.

since you're talking about software i assume you're talking about making music such as what girltalk does, and not using turntables, etc. my roommates are all crazy into that type of shit, and i have tinkered around a lot with their stuff. it's a lot of fun.

They are all running macs, and the main software they use is Reason and Logic. Both those programs come with a shitload of voices for you to mess around with as well. It's expensive (prices similar to Photoshop and other software demanded by the professional industry), and if money is an issue Logic is probably the better choice, or you can try and acquire them illegally.

Something I have on my computer that is freeware, but has a decent set of features you can do is Jackson DJ software - takes your mp3 library, you map the beats using an included automated beatmapper and then you can mix up to two songs using standard controls found on a set of DJ turntables plus delay, reverb, and flange.

Hmm... thanks for the suggestion. I'll go for that Reason and Logic stuff you suggested, because Jackson DJ software (as you described) has fewer features than Virtual DJ, that I already have :).

Audacity might help in a pinch, it's free and open source, but you have to do everything by hand, and there's no instrument separation. Comes with a boatload of effects and cool features though.

DJing software? Well I downloaded MadTracker 2 but you have to register it for $20 a month if you want to change the music filetype from mt2 to wav or mp3. Excellent program though.
