I am going to be DMing an adventure over the IRC channel in Feudal Japan. Set somewhere between 1400 and 1700. I'm not revealing the story, clearly, only the setting and mechanics. Yes, Samurai is a class. So is Ninja. However since this will be a campaign in a historical and realistic setting, there will be no magic of any sorts. Human is the only acceptable race. Primitive firearms will be available depended on the final year. If you are interested in taking part, you must be two things: A role player, and a D&D player with some degree of experience. I don't have the time or the patience to train new people how to play. Don't take it the wrong way, I am just a really bad teacher with unbelievably high standards. If you've got a few months, a year, a few years, that is fine.

Send me a PM with the type of character you'd like to play and your level of experience.

NOTE
- Not everyone can be a Ninja. It is a prestige class and you will have to start out rogue. I'd like a little variety in terms of classes.
-Core classes will be Fighter, Rogue, Samurai, Monk, and Sohei. (A sort of Warrior Monk.)
-You will need to have Oriental Adventures for reference. If you don't have this, say that in your PM and we will work something out.

This looks like it will be interesting. I don't have the most DnD experience but I know the basics.

I, uhh...well...got swamped with players. Wasn't really expecting to be full up within an hour of posting my intent. Sorry kids, we are full. Hang around for the next one.

Oh, wait, we have to PM. Crap.

Well, I'll actually show up, if that helps.

Note: All names appear in Japanese order, so surname is first, given name is second. For example, Steven Tyler in English would by Tyler Steven with the Japanese order. And you will see the names of anime characters. The people playing them didn't feel like creating authentic names.

Summary of events so far: Omon Ayame (rogue played by Biohazard60), Ikari Shinji (samurai played by SHISHKABOB), and Nara Shikamaru (sohei played by kongurous) were all in a temple in Kyoto, praying, looking for targets to steal from, and otherwise going about their everyday lives. Akatatsu Mohiro, a samurai in the employ of the Shogun of Japan in 1467, came to the temple and asked for everyone not willing to serve the Shogun to leave. Ayame, Shinji, and Shikamaru all remained and the four of them left the temple on horses to ensure another temple, full of women and children, was safe.

On arrival, however, such was not the case. The temple was being burned by three samurai with no obvious insignia or affiliation and a battle broke out where all of the three samurai burning the temple were killed. The temple, unfortunately, could not be saved. Ayame passed a Knowledge (Local) check and recognized them as members of a local Yakuza gang, and so we made plans to go pound the gang. However, it was late and we stopped at an inn first for food and sleep.

Finding the base early the next morning, we managed to take out some of the guards but didn't get the one with the alarm system and so the rest of the gang (it was a small gang, 10-12 members) was alerted to our presence. A skirmish began, during which Shinji died. The head of the gang, apparently a samurai of some skill, challenged Mohiro to an Iaijutsu duel and lost terribly. The gang stood down and Shikamaru searched the boss's body, finding a katana, a tanto, some money, and a note. Searching the base, Shikamaru also found another note and a hat in an armoire. Ayame found some gold pieces in the sleeping rooms of the gang but neglected to tell the rest of us exactly how much she found. In fact, she had to be pressed by both Shikamaru and Mohiro to confess to finding anything.

Leaving the base, we went to the local camp of a Taisho Mitsuru, presumably in the Shogun's army. We told the Taisho what we found and Shikamaru presented the first note he'd found, reading it aloud. Apparently the Yakuza were being funded by one of the clans finding for control of Kyoto, the Yamana clan. With orders from the Taisho to go to the capital of the Yamana, Tottori city.

En route we were ambushed by six samurai who didn't declare who they represented and that's the campaign so far. We killed the samurai, of course, and the session ended cus at least two people were about to collapse.
