I just logged into steam after a month or two, and I know i only had Counter strike: Source and the original one, but all of a sudden, I had Almost every game ranging from 667(I) Hunt to Zuma Deluxe. I downloaded Source to my Profile, but it won't let me connect. I'm using vista, so i should be able to fix that. But, I don't remember giving anyone my password. I tried to log into my other account with Half Life on it,but the games are still there! It's only on my computer, how do I fix this? Cause, i can't even download it without steam saying "The server is too busy to handle you're request." Cause if I download them, I think I could get banned cause I don't own them.

Vista fucks with Steam sometimes. I once shared an account with my brother (he was on Vista, but only online once to log in and D/L stuff), and it screwed up my XP install somehow.
Try re-installing it (Steam) entirely. Or clear the cache (might work, NO GUARANTEE, I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING), or just drop Valve a line. They're usually nice people.
Curious, but do any of the new games run? How long has it been since your last login?

not so much luck as un-luck, but...steam won't update, and valve's trouble shooting won't fix it.
it goes up by 2% every minute or so (like 2, 4, 6) without the other percent being shown. it does this till it reaches the mid 30's, then drops to 0, then jumps right to 28, goes to midthirties, then repeats. eventually it stops and says "the servers are busy"
oh, and it follows the same pattern without deviation AFTER i un- re-install it.
help!

As stated before, drop the guys over at Valve an e-mail telling them about the problem, or post in the forums about it. They're usually willing to help.
Mjolniir, your update stuff is wierd, I must say. Could be a connection thing. Keep your ports open, and make sure your LAN connection isn't being interrupted by, say, a 360 (http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/12/17/1514217).

So you fixed it. What was the problem?
I'd better get a rep for all this. I'm only joking, but feel free to send some my way if your tech issues continue.

Could be possibly an AJAX transcription error. You see, sometimes if the servers get congested, they mis-send data that are not supposed to be sent. Sometimes, your whole page get fucked up with nonsense, and that could be a reason. After a day or two, it will disappear like nothing happened.
