Personally, I'm absolutely astounded that doctors believe they can repair such extensive damage. When I first looked at the photos I couldn't help but wonder where his mouth is and how he manages to eat.

And what makes me ponder is that even if they do manage to return his face to a state of relative normality, what about his personality? This man has lived all his life with this gruesome "mask"... how would he cope with suddenly having that removed?

It's really terrible for him, but I fail to understand why he clings to his religion if that makes it almost impossible to heal him.

For some people religion is very important, and some would rather die than reject it.

i guess it gives him hope and something to hold on to or believe in when times get rough


modern medicine has gone a long way and i really hope he gets the help he needs.
on another note, i saw something sorta similar to this a couple of years ago on Ripleys Believe it or Not where a portion of a man's face had to be surgically removed because he consumed some bread mold i beleive. Anyways you've been warned this contains graphic images and is not for the faint of heart. Watch at your own discretion.

They can do a lot to faces nowadays. I saw a video, where a man had to have the whole middle of his face and nose removed so that although around his eyes was fine, he had no nose, and there was no skin to hold up his lip so it kind of hung down and you could see in from where his nose was, and with prosthetics they patched him all up and he looked perfectly fine, just with a removable nose. Maybe they can do something like that here too once the tumor is removed.
