I think users should be able to delete their own posts if they wanted to, speeding up the process of cleaning accidental posts and such.

Plez?

The idea is to avoid members flaming/etc and then removing any evidence.
So.. sorta an idea we've always been against.

But would it be possible to store or log posting history and its contents into some type of archive that cannot be deleted by members so that moderators and administrative personnel can check for evidence?

that's what we have now.
giving you the ability to remove posts .. removes that log.

.. stop asking. this is a feature you are NOT going to get.

Mad, powerabusing haxx0rz mods at work. Nothing to see here people, keep moving.

More Ontopic: Aj is right, the delete-your-comment system is to prone to abusing. I wouldn't mind seeing an edit button however. If someone is offended, he can quote the offending message and no matter how much editing the flamer does, he won't be able to erase his crimes.

Though the current system is fine.

i believe one can report one's own posts in case of accidental multiposting...

perhaps a 24 hour hold mechanism that notifies itself of being deleted unless a admin or mod chooses to do otherwise?

Yeah, I also agree too. It's not good if non-staff members will be able to delete their own posts, It'll be prone to hidden crimes and erasure of evidence hehe :P.

You can't edit your posts? I can.

Try looking beside the "quote" button in the bottom right corner of a post.

You can edit your posts O.o

Unless theirs a time limit on that.

Deleting posts would invariably get abused, and to be frank, you should probably be going slower if you somehow manage to double post (And break the double post timer) and/or whatever "wrong post" things you do.

And reporting your post accomplishes the same thing.

Personally, I'd love to see something like "notify user that their post has been deleted" for people who don't seem to get it (like deleting spam from ir, if the user never reads over their earlier posts, they'll never realize their posts were deleted o.o;;)

Whenever I didn't like my post and wouldn't like to see it being offensive to others I've edited it or if it was really that bad would've edit all my text (aka erasure) and place a "-Deleted-" holder. Then (when the system was available) I reported it asking for deletion.

To be honest though, I've don't recall ever placing a deletion text holder onto my posts. ;)

"Errare humanum est." Aka, let it be known that I ain't perfect, ok? ;) Maybe I just put a lil' fruitful thought about what am about to post and its consequential reactions... before submitting the said text.

In layman's terms he thinks before he posts, in fact my desperate plea (http://www.warboards.org/showpost.php?p=554455&postcount=33)
to get people to think before posting has only come under more attack then any thought of them maybe cleaning up their posts.

If you feel that a post you've made should be deleted, don't post it. If its an accidental double post just report it, simple.
