View Full Version : Warboards IRC?
Dear all,
Hi -- I'm X9, one of the Starcraft.Org staffies and a humble Warboards member. =] Just was wondering if we have an IRC for Warboards and/or SCO, and if so, what channel and what server?
Cheers,
X9, Fan Fiction Moderator
If you hover your mouse over the top menu (the one that scrolls down, with the link to the User CP and Arcade), there should be a link to the IRC. Someone maybe able to come along later and tell you the exact Channel and Server.

the channel is #orgnetwork
I am there 24/7 :)

No you aren't. The only person who is there almost 24/7 is Aqo. I'm there a lot, so is kong and Seal is alive in the morning hours of the Eastern US Time Zone.

Keep in mind that the channel is for the orgnetwork though, not SC.org specifically. A lot of the people that frequent the channel are from the forums, and most of us don't play SC at all.
Still a fun place to hang out.

If you do enter X9, we will welcome you. Unless we're in complete ass mode in there.

Aqo is not 24/7. I don't see him on all the times(timezones most likely :P)
You can find me in there too usually :)

I'm in there sometimes, not as often as I'd like to be :D
I use to be on there a lot, not so much anymore :(

Yeah, I'm gonna download the IRC thing and go on. :)
Oh sometimes I have RL and I leave IRC. But in all other cases I'm there. Just type "hoy, Aqo" to summon me and I'll show up saying something along the lines of "hi".
I can also stab unsuspecting victims in the eye. Be cautious.

I am a pro idler, if you really want me, private messages make the window flash
also, we generally don't approve of anyone who comes in looking for anything illegal, or whining about startcraft, as we for the most part all stopped playing a couple years ago

And to think that this thing is a mod
Indeed, heaven forbid manners, well spoken, and a humble request.
Hrm.
Heaven forbid joking sarcastically and/or being able to search for things on your own before asking for help.

I am sensing some religious bias here that makes me a bit uncomfortable.
he asked nicely where and if there was an IRC channel.
oh my gawd.
the thread is open, not closed.
it violates no rules here.
if you're going to simply assault anyone who asks a simple, nice request then you'll find your name at the bottom of any list of considerations..
I don't think anyone, well uh, most people, meant to assault X9. We're just joking around, right, chaps?

You have lists? This reminds me vaguely of a recent episode of South Park...
So now I need to break into the staff room during your list making meetings, steal the list, and post it in the bathroom.

But the list is corrupted, so don't bother.

I can't get on the IRC from school. And now no net at home... I miss the randomness. Isn't there some sort of Yahoo Messanger thinger that can also do IRC? Or what download could I grab... wait. Why am I asking the 1337 spammers?

Granted, but keep in mind that he is
1. a mod on sc.org
2. Someone that should know that there is an IRC
3. maybe we need to have a modship 101 course or something
4. If he knows so little about our community, then why is he a mod.
X9, I have no problem with you being a mod, I just find it hard to believe that AJ would go so far as to say that in us stating our amazement that you did not know about our "haven" that we would find ourselves at the bottom of a 'list' surprising. Thats all, AJ I'm not trying to be disrespectful, but only stating my point

Why should knowledge of IRC be a prerequisite for a moderator position on one of the member sites? I'd be more concerned with honesty, good judgment, and dedication to the site in question. Does every mod need to know every intimate detail of the entire ORG network to effectively moderate?
You're assuming that X9 knows little about "our community", when (I hope) the admins require knowledge of and involvement in a particular site before appointing someone to a staff position. So, how does asking if we have an IRC channel affect X9's ability to work on SC.org? If IRC was a vital component of staff organization, then you might have a point, but that simply isn't the case as far as I can tell.

once again, understood. My point was tho that I had had this notion that most of our mods were renaissance 'men' of sorts, and I also figured that it might help if you have some sort of knowledge of the .org network and how it works and its outlets as well. But all things set aside, you and AJ are both right.

Don't hate X9, I'm sure he's a great guy/chick.
For the record, I know nothing about any of the sister sites, and I have no idea about anything that goes on there.

You're comparing warcraft to sc? Never visted the wc page... the sc polls are interesting... some of the spoofers I dislike sometimes... speaking of sc...
