So i have an idea for a mod... but you must tell me:
A. What programs/modding tools I will need?
B. How many TIME will I need ?
Here's the mod idea... very simple, 2 modifications only
Zerg Defiler = Infested Dragoon... Looses all spells, Dragoon graphics, Venom attack, damage 18... 150 Hit points, regeneration OPTIONALLY, 50 shield points
Infested Terran = Infested Marine... Infested Terran graphics, 60 Hit points, Suicide attack becomes Gauss rifle attack, 7 damage points...
So, please respond to A and B

Firegraft is your most powerful tool.
Of course, if you ask me, I don't think you're prepared to make a mod, nor do I think that you will be able to pull off some of your lofty expectations.
But, of course, that is just my prediction, adn you may very well best me this time.

While what you are looking to do sounds quite simple, because of the way SC works, it actually a relativly involved project for a new modder because it requires that you understand how to use quite a few different programs and understand how they all work together.
But if you are really interested, ill do my best to break down what you need to do.
Zerg Defiler : Infested Dragoon
To remove the defilers spells you can simply remove the buttons that activate them using Firegraph
To change the graphics to look like a dragoon you will need to use WinMPQ(or a similar program). With winmpq you can take the dragoon.grp file, copy it, and rename it to the defiler.grp. Then you Must also use DatEdit to tell the defiler unit, to use the dragoons iscript (or you could use IceCC to rewrite the defilers animation scripts )
To give the defiler the Venom Attack, modified hitpoints, shields and regeneration, use DatEdit
Infested Terran : Infested Marine
To modify hitpoints use DatEdit.
To change suicide attack to a gauss rifle you have to change the weapon in DatEdit and then you have to give the Infested Terran attack sprites. To do this use IceCC or Ice.
To make it look like the unit has a muzzle flash you will need to use RetroGRP(or a similar program) to add a muzzle flash into the original graphics sprites.
As for asking how long it will take for you to do this, that is entirely dependent on your level of experience. If you understood everything I said, and you have experience with every program I listed, it could be easily done in a day. If you have no experience with the programs it could take a very long time to become familiar enough with them to make your new units.
