Here's a thread where people can post one of their oldest maps and then post their newest one so we can compare them.
btw, try to have your oldest map first, followed by your newest map when you attach them.
p.s. I know, my first map is.... I don't know..

Lol, this is a really cool idea. I wish you would have made this thread before I made Whiteout (its not that good).
But whatever, it's still cool. Here we go!
(2)Whiteout(n) (http://www.warboards.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=9242&d=1196397341) Newest
(4)The_Famine(n) (http://www.warboards.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=5539&d=1162248853) Oldest
These are just my melee maps. My oldest UMS maps were on my old crashed computer.
But if we're gonna go with the best from the first half of my mapping career vs the best of my recent maps, it's (6)The_Refuge_of_Beezlebub(n) (http://www.warboards.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=5540&d=1162248862) vs (2)The_Sands_of_Time(n) (http://www.warboards.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=8602&d=1189310421)

The Famine... it's so...plain...lol
Oh, I remember the beezlebub one.. Isn't that the one where you and some other person started yelling at each other on starcraft.org because he didn't think you knew who beezlebub was??

Starcraft TV (http://www.maplantis.org/index.php?map=38) - Oldest of my maps I'll bother to post. Juvenile humor at its finest?
Astrogears (http://astrogears.emberquest.com/) - My literally-hours-away-from-complete map that I'll be releasing later today. This bloody monster took me 5 months to finish. :o

I'll hold off for the official release but.
... I can't wait! :D
too complicated for my taste. Takes too long to learn how it actually works, or to even understand a single thing...
I guess it's kind of like chess, feels complicated, and therefore, usually not fun either, but later on starts to get interesting as you know what every piece does, some good ways of playing etc.
also needs 2 experienced players at the game explaining it all for their allies.
as for my oldest and newest...
uhh...
oldest: Trust me, you wouldnt even want to see it. It's that horrible. And I dont think I have it on my comp either.
newest: Does a campaign map I've been making with midnightgladius count? well, then it's the newest. (btw, be prepared for a 5-map-update soon enough.. it'll be completely kickass)

Ahzz you make me sick to not look at the site to learn how to play :/.
Plus its very easy to understand I tested his map alot and got the hang of it with the first 3 plays.
anyways here are mine-
oldest- http://www.freewebs.com/twitchismental/Starcraft Maps/Def vs Offense version2edit.scm
newest- Energy Defense 2 (http://www.maplantis.org/index.php?map=937[url)

"first 3", while even reading the rules doesn't sound very easy to me.

You do realize I didn't have the rules and stuff to read when I was beta testing for him right?

It has a sharp learning curve, I know. I wish I could have some kind of single player to go with it to inch people into it, or at least more in-game features to make its functions more intuitive.
In the absence of both, I'd suggest toughing it out. It really is worth it, after a few games.

It does sound interesting, and even though I'm not a UMS guy...I might try it out sometime.
