Hello. I'd like to share a map that I've been working on off-and-on for months. It's an installation map about a guy (you) who loses control of his sector to a Zerg invasion and will to do anything to reclaim it, including hiring mercenaries using minerals that are gained by killing enemies and completing levels.

This map is split up into 5 levels. Each level has a boss that you have to defeat, and most of the levels have minibosses as well. I tried to make the map fun, challenging, strategic, and bug-free. I also scattered some wavs here and there to spice things up. This map originally had full-fledged music for every stage, but the file size got insanely large (85 megs) so I had to scrap that idea.

I was originally going to put all 8 levels (plus one bonus level) in one map, but I hit an unexpected error (too many obstructions, apparently I had too many "wall doodads"...not sure what they're called) after I had completed 5 levels. That's why there's a big gaping space to the north that's unused.

Unfortunately, no one else has played the map but me, so I don't know how difficult it would be to someone else. I can assure you though that (I think, anyway) it'll put up a good challenge.

Please tell me what you think about this map, and if you find any bugs (I'd like to say that I've squashed all of them, but no one can ever be sure...) let me know. Here's the link:

(sorry, it's 2.67 megs, and thus too large to attach to this post)

Edit: Oh, it's also singleplayer.

Mass units a ums does not make.

Use triggers ans stuff to make your map more memorable. Just having a powerful normal unit doesnt make a bossfight fun. You need to do some crazy trigger attacks and and add more atmosphere, more immersion, and more fun.

You're on your way, but its really bland right now.

Ok, sorry. You're right, straight boss fights aren't all that fun. That was a pretty noob mistake of mine, and I'll make it so that each boss has a unique "attack" or evasive strategy.

For example, I made it so that the second boss (the hydralisk) is more cunning and will zoom across the arena every few seconds and call for backup. This makes it more difficult to beat him and it makes the battle more exciting and drawn out.

Any other advice? Is the map too difficult or easy?

He said it was too big. WB has limits on the size of files you can upload.

Ok, here's a FileFront link to the map:

This one has the special attack for the second boss that I mentioned above.

I think the goliaths could use more health, but that's not too important.

Thanks for the input. I thought 125 health was good for the goliaths since they're almost strictly anti-air and not a general-purpose unit.

I have a question: is putting music from other videogames in a map frowned upon? Are there any legal issues involved with it?

I do it. Just give the games credit & dont make money off of it.

Nah, no one really looks at SC games, just look at the kill Bush game. You know if the government found out about that they might have to err.. investigate.
