ok in my UMS i want it so you can see Dark templars that are owned by other players, but i do not want to share there vision, you only have one unit, and i don't care if you see burrow units and stuff, But i do not want to have a obserever following the character around, because i don't want let the players see over walls. any ideas how to do this, i thought about using a spider mine, i think it will get in the way when a enamy unit comes close and it wants to kill it

Just have a location over the dark templars and have a trigger that creates 1 unit (ex. observer) for you at that location and then removes it constantly. It'll let you see the unit, but you won't be able to move the observer because it will constantly be created and removed. That idea was created by SilverCrusader by the way.

that won't work because i will see the area around the DT and the Dt, i want it to be that when a dt comes within sight range of the unit, you can see it.

Well, I guess you could make all of your units detectors? I dunno much about this sort of thing though.

Nah, that method won't work, cloaked units are tricky. I'm thinking about creating/removing a missile turret over and over.

Missile turrets? You mean, a building? I think you mean Observers.

Could you give the unit to an allied (but not shared vision) player that everyone is allied with and then immediatly give it back?

no he doesn't, i clearly stated that i don't want to use an observer because i'll see over cliffs and things.

Well, you cant use missile turrets. It would get screwed up VERY easily.

Thats the only problem :/

i'l probably create a spider mine under the players unit, but i'll have to do some testing to see if it will stay in the ground when i move it, and prevent it from unburrowing and attacking things using the stop command or something

Problem with that is that spider mines don't actually detect. They just attack units even if they're cloaked.

Yeah, your best bet is the missile turret, but that glitches up so much... I'll have to play around with it, try to get it to glitch, and then fix it.

How about if he uses an allied with everyboy's burrowed Zerglings player to stalk the DT's instead? One per player that is (which still leaves you with 7 players left). ;)

SilverCrusader

Well, constantly moving a burrowed unit under the DT would make the unit's speed decrease.

And also...the burrowed units wouldn't actually detect it for you...

Except if they they probably had allied vision with all the players and them with it. But you're right, I've never thought about the eventual speed unit decrease (hypers anyone?).

i could use something like a invicible blinded scourage owned by the player fly over his character's head and i could give in to an ally comp and back to the player so if he selects it will automaticly will be unselected. (I'll be using hypes anyway)

If we could spell things, just parasite the cloaked unit...

Maybe do what SilverCrusader suggested, but with a floor trap instead of a missile turret?

Durandal

You could use EUD's and remove the DT perma cloak @_@

SilverCrusader

Won't work, floor traps are stupid and unable to be both created or moved.
But I might be able to work around it...

I suppose so, but for some reason recall works on them, if they're not doodads. I find that strange.

SilverCrusader

There really isn't anything short of troublesome to do about it. You could ask the player to parasite it lol.

How about you just make your cliffs taller so you can't see over them regardless and use the observer method?

I mean, really, there is no more efficient method. If you go out of your way just for something as silly as that then it's going to create problems and will cost unnecessary effort anyway. But if you're hell-bent on it, missile turrets are your best bet.

Impractical. No reason to take up so much space when you could work around it, this is one of those limits in the StarCraft editor. SC2 will fix all that though.
