Please list all your good (LEGAL) mods here. I'm very interested in which each person finds the most useful and what they get out of them. It might be a good springboard for newbies to find some things to enhance things as well.

I'm personally going to download Cartographer (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/4947/), as with the buff to L30+ exp from quests, it's going to be crucial that I don't miss any of the quests in my area. I seriously don't like grinding pointlessly, and there's nothing more aggravating than finding a 3000exp quest (30 mob kills / 30 min) that you missed that you now get 0 exp since you leveled too much.

Back when I was playing and modding actively, I could reccommend:

Necrosis (http://wowui.incgamers.com/ui.php?id=2442) is a nifty multifunction tool for warlocks. I used the mage version of this (Cryolysis (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/3425/)) to great effect.

If you have time to mod your setup and want something truly cool to look at, I *highly* recommend discord's total UI modability suite (www.discordmods.com), and even more highly Chimaine's minimalistic UI's on that site. (they are without any peer whatsoever for cleanliness and utility, though you'll have to learn to mod them to make them fit your class instead of a rogue. I can help you a bit with that, I still remember a lot of the language)

Enchantrix (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/79/) (if you're an enchanter) keeps track of what enchanting materials you have and what the chances are of disenchanting certain materials for certain items.

Gatherer (if you have any radar skills whatsoever: mining, herbalism, eventually fishing) keeps track of every node you've mined, picked, or fished.

It is currently bundled with Auctioneer (http://auctioneeraddon.com/), in a suite of mods.

Telo's lootlink and other addons (http://www.wowwiki.com/Telo's_Addons) keep track of items you've seen and lets you link them to chat, among other useful utilities that have been copied throughout the history of WOW.

The various inventory mods that show your inventory as a parseable list are *very* useful, they make sorting through your inventory a breeze, though they are occasionally slightly unwieldy.

ItemRack (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/1482/) and its ilk are useful for quickly organizing and switching sets of gear, whether this is because you feel like terrifying your allies with the most garish outfit you can imagine, doing james bond impressions (tuxedo), or the more utilitarian need to change sets for different circumstances.

Edit: Changed layout, hadn't realized it was so garish.

Nice. I'd rep you, but I did recently and your post layout bites ASS.

If you're using the stock WoW UI, that needs to change. That's all I can really say.

I use Perl Classic Unit Frames, wonderful little mod. It's fully customizable, looks great, and has options for healers. If you get it, make sure you get the ArcaneBar addon so you see enemy spellcasts on their faceplate, or life may be hard for a while.

Grid, if you ever do raids, will also be useful as it can be configured to display life left, life deficits (a boon for healers) and all kinds of other information such as curses, poisons, magic effects, if that player has aggro and if that player has heals incoming on him.

I use Omen threat meter, because KTM is absolute garbage, and Omen interfaces with it anyway. Threat meters, even in low-end instances, are vital. Obviously nothing can surpass the intelligent knowledge of threat and how far you can push your tank's aggro before you're the one getting your face pounded, but knowing when you're at the 130% threshold as a ranged DPS is nice, because you can push for that much longer, etc.

Also snag some kind of bar mod. bartender is FANTASTIC. I love it, so much. You can customize the layout and put all your bars at the bottom of the screen, or wherever you want, really.

Bag mods are also helpful, as the wow default bag stuff is kind of dumb, and getting something such as Bagnon is really nice, because that mod lets you see bags on all your characters with the addon enable, as well as gold they have, gold on the server, and it combines all the bag slots you have into one bag, so that you just see it as inventory space, and not separate bags.

Get FuBar, because that will take all of the add-on icons off your minimap and puts it up on top or bottom of your screen, making it very easy to minimize the amount of space that they take up, not to mention the fact that it's super customizable and compatible with so many mods.

And finally, switch to keybinds. You can do this using default wow interface, which is difficult as that's based on "right action bar button 1" etc, which an be hard to figure out exactly. There are also keybind mods available that help a ton. The reason I say this is that clicking is definitely slower than a keybind, and having your major attacks on the number pad lets you use those key abilities quickly, while moving to click for things that are less common.

An example of my keybinds are as follows:

/ on keypad = Rapid Fire
* on keypad = Beastial Wrath
- on keypad = Intimidation
7 on keypad = Multi-shot
8 = Mend Pet
9 = Viper Sting
5 = Arcane Shot
6 = Steady Shot Macro (my main attack)
1 = Wing Clip
2 = Raptor Strike
0 = Hunters Mark
. = Scorpid sting.

By knowing instinctually what I have to press, during most fights, I just use the keypad and the WASD keys to move around, eliminating need for the mouse to really do any form of moving around, using items, etc. Unless I need to pot or use an uncommon ability, I never click. My DPS has increased since I switched, as has my performance in PvP. It's a godsend.

Also, I'm posting a link to an SS of my UI.

Basically, the unit frames are the perl frames, I have my combat log out below my minimap (which i moved, using a minimap mod). The bars are all on the bottom of the screen, and all the empty spaces you see are for consumables and/or macros that I use based on a fight (i.e. a Vashj tainted core macro, the Spitfire Totem macro for Karathress, etc), and I remove them once I'm done. I use a chat mod, I forgot which one off-hand, that basically lets you customize certain things, and that's lower right corner. The sphere above my bars is the Venantes Hunter Sphere Mod, which basically lets me click on the smaller circles to pull out a menu of aspects, traps, tracking, pet options, etc. It basically saves me from using 20 icons on my bars by letting me use pull-out menus. If you're not a hunter, though, you don't want/need that particular mod.

I'd also suggest SCT (Scrolling Combat Text) as it's useful for knowing what's going on, and it tells you who healed you for how much, how much overheal there was (if any) and all kinds of other info.

A final note is that some of these mods can be overlooked, but with the kind of raiding I find myself doing, I try to make my UI as conducive as possible to getting as much info as I can from my UI. The more i know about what's going on, the better I can react to situations, etc.

Anyway, /end novel.

Omen (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/9101/)

FuBar 2.0 (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/3040/)
BagNon (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/2090/)
SCT (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/111/) (and SCTD (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/2992/), which shows *your* damage, too)

Cartographer / Gatherer (mining)
Auctioneer is a must-have
Grid helps but isn't necessary if you don't raid heal
Gladiator (absolutely necessary if you do arena)
Pitbull unitframes (Older versions are better)
NECB (Natur Enemy Cast Bars) are very helpful, especially as a Warlock because you can see how long until you need to reapply your DoT's.
AtlasLoot is handy when you decide which instances to do (mostly at 70 and you have a lot of choices)

I plan to be leveling my warrior from 60-70 with some other guild alts, probably in about a week and a half when the rest of them hit 60. Give me a shot on Pirate when you hit the mid fifties and maybe we can coordinate for some of the nastier group quests.

If you're using Ace2 addons (which you should be), the biggest must-have is the WoWAceUpdater (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=178751). One click gets you the latest versions of anything on the WoWAce SVN, there's usually a handful of mods updated everyday (although some of the changes may not be essential to you).
It also acts as a database of all the Ace2 addons available, so you can simply search through there if you need something, instead of through a cluttered (and sometimes unreliable) addon site.
The beauty of the updater is that getting updated mods after a major patch is incredibly easy, and you can even use the updater on the PTR, since most Ace2 developers are updating their mods there as well, and those versions are part of the SVN.

www.wowace.com <-- Go there, and scroll a bit. You'll find a search box along the left side. Type in a generic thing, like "DoT" or "Healing" or "Priest" and you'll usually bring up a bunch of results based on it - Which can lead you to some awesome finds. It's how I cam across Smartycat (Shows me my mana when I'm in cat or bear form) as well as many other mods I use.

Currently my UI - Maybe some small changes here or there. If you wonder about any part of my screen, ask away. But there's a ton of mods there, so trust me when I say, it'd take me a while to list everything used >.<;

WTH!?

Is that even WoW?

Yes, this is WoW, in all it's 14.99 a month details, along with a decent sized resolution, and a fully custom UI by yours truely.

Go start paying for the game, and maybe I'll teach you more.

Now if there's any further questions?
