Point me in the right direction? I made some of my own and was wanting to replace the existing ones. Thanks.

Just look inside the game *.mpq file archives (with WinMPQ and it's reference list file (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=13285)) and look for every *.wav termination. ;)

I've tried to replace the sounds, the correct path and everything, but it still doesn't overwrite the original ones. Do they need to be the exact same length and what not?

No, as far as I can tell file size doesn't matter. Only its name and folder path inside the *.mpq archives. ;)

The racial theme ones that we hear when playing? I know that they're inside the "stardat.mpq" but can't recall their exact names.
If that isn't it and you're referring to the background music we hear when we're navigating in the game's menus then I'd assume that it's one of the remaining unknown files listed in WinMPQ.

lol, you must have forgotten that the music is in install.exe. It is one of the reasons that install.exe is the biggest file in SC or BW.

I know that there is one racial theme music per race and if not mistaken those main themes are inside the SC's "Stardat.mpq" (apart the Easter egg bonus for the Zerg).

no, im pretty sure theres another way to install it that doesnt involve the install.exe file. something to do with an importer/exporter

I already said, all of the music is in install.exe on the CD (music\*.wav). Install.exe on the CD has an MPQ archive attached to it which contains the music, the cinematics, and the single player campaign, among other files. This has all been known for a very long time.

Now I'm not saying you can't replace the music though. Install.exe is opened with the lowest priority out of all of the MPQ archives opened by Starcraft. This means any archive can be used to include replacement music. Of course the best way is to load a separate MPQ with MPQDraft (or any other mod loader) rather than modify the game's own files.

As for how many there are, there are 3 per race for the in-game music. There is also ready room, victory, and defeat music for each race, along with the main menu music and the bonus music for the radio free zerg code. As far as I know, that's all of them, but that's just from memory.
