View Full Version : Terran Vulture
THE FIRST EVAR 3D FAN ART OF A TERRAN VULTURE!! (I think....)
It's the newest model I've made. It's meant to be featured in a cinematic. It would be moving swiftly over the desert so tiny glitches in the modelling and textures don't matter ;) This model is really special to me because I'm a bike lover :)
I made this in about 12 hours mainly because I had to model an anatomicaly correct humanoid shape sitting down on it so that the placement of the seat and the handlebars would be correct.

I think you should play Ultimate Doom, it puts an emphasis to the whole "I am a hoverbike" thing.
@Ghost: Fantastic, you certainly have a talent. Why not work at Blizzard?
Why not work at Blizzard?
Because I'm still 17, was born and am still living 5000 miles away in the Philippines, and still have to finish College :)

wheels?? XD
Awesome!!
Also I don't think it's the first one, I saw an SCG style one for an abandoned fps mod sometime last year... (trying to find...)
Also, all 3 of the WC3 SC mods have vultures too. :D

It's definitely not the first one out on the internet I've seen a few around before.
Overall, the design is nice. About what I would've done.
The one thing that's really bugging me right now though is on the front end. The edges look much too pointy. I'm guessing you just took all of the points on the edge down and merged/welded them? If so I would recommend just scaling them down until they're really small but not touching. Since most large scale stuff like that doesn't really get that fine unless it's a blade of some sort.
And on the rear area, I would recommend opening that up some. Right now it looks like just a box with some sub-d and minor extrusions. My suggestion would be to remove the side panels and model something inside the back casing. That would really make it look much better and less simplified.
And one more thing. I'm liking what you've got going with the panels on the front area. But your problem is, is that's all. It lacks the complete feeling. If you've ever modeled anything made in the real world like a car or a plane or even a simple kitchen table you'll know that it's made up of many parts or pieces. Most everything is. So what needs to be done is you should really split off some area's around your model and then extrude the loose edges inward then edge split them so, when sub-d is applied, you have a nice, tight, fillet going for you. Some idea's would be the front. Underneath the armor plates split the fiberglass (or metal if that's what you want) down each side and round it off. Same with the piece just behind the seat. Split off a part like the top 5th and round those off. Split the engine casing's apart some as well as the back housing. Doing this will give the model a much better feeling of completeness and make it look much less cg like.
Oh, and, just for kicks, could you post a wire? (non smoothed would be best)
Otherwise it's looking good so keep up the good work. :)
And it's cool to see there's some likenesses between us too. :) (minus the Filipino part.)

Ok, I found the last place where I saw a fan made 3D vulture; there's one in this guy's demo reel. Can't find the fps mod and I'm not sure if the WC3 mods count as fan art. :D

That's gotta be the worst demo reel I've seen. Ever. >.<
