View Full Version : Pour Vous, Relic
Ok, here's my idea. We do a 'Warboards' suggestions thing for the 'Suggestion box' at Relic Forums. They've recently added one for Soulstorm, so let's throw in some ideas. This will be debated, then, finally, we'll compile it into a single post and send it on.
Btw, please don't bother with things like "Omg, change SoBs to nids!!!!!!", because stuff like that won't happen, they need to be reasonable and sensibe changes.
My suggestions thus far?
I'm going to try and avoid balance issues, because I don't play seriously a lot, I'm going to focus more on fluff, but if you have any major balance axes to grind, shoot.
Space Marines:
Remove the Land Raider as a Relic Unit by nerfing it and reducing the 1 limit to 2, possibly. Add the option to upgrade to a Crusader.
Replace the LR with the Thunderhawk Gunship as a Relic Unit.
Other new unit? Vindicator or bikes, maybe?
Maybe alter Tactical Squads to have more weapons, but only able to take two while adding Devastator squads.
Imperial Guard:
Rough Riders, or another dedicated fast attack/cc unit.
Change the unit cap on Kasrkins.
Perhaps add Elysians as Deep Striking troops.
Add options to change the Leman Russ. Possibly alter the cap and costs of it, even if this means nerfing it a little.
Chaos:
Moar Vehicles?
Orks:
No major ideas, from me
Necrons:
Move Flayed Ones back in the tech tree, possibly cap. You should NOT be able to build an effective army with pure FO's, it is neither fluffy nor sensible.
Tau:
Rail rifles for Pathfinders, please.
Pirahna
Dark Eldar:
No idea, atm, too early to suggest
SoB's:
Fire. Lots of Fire
General Gameplay and such:
Moar Synchkills
More colours in the army painter, including metallics, please. It would be nice to have every colour available without a mod.
Maybe expand the badges and colour schemes a little.
If possible, add more sections to be coloured (though I don't know if this is an engine thing, if you can only have so many colours and trims)
More units visible in the Army Painter
Well, I wouldn't make the Space Marines relic unit a superheavy flyer, it would A) Be a bit too uber and B) hide to much of the terrain underneath it, being big and all.
I agree with nerfing the landraider a bit and moving it off relic though. Dont know what you could replace the relic unit with though. So maybe not.
Sentinel options, i.e start with a multilaser and upgrade (if wished) to autocannon, lascannon or heavy flamer, make it a bit closer to tabletop.
Apart from that I donnt think theres anything glaringly obvious that needs doing. Although I agree with some elysian goodness for Guard, especially if they get a demo charge from the off...BOOM!
things i want too see
-Rough Riders
-Weapon Upgrades on the Sents (Flamer etc)
-Weapon Upgrade on Baneblade for the hellhammer
-Vindicators for Chaos
-WHy cant u use scarabs in a necron army!
And try not to make the Sisters too much like SM.
Good so far.
You can get Scarabs from the Tomb Spyder, Dayoh. They take some health off, but this can be repaired.

I haven't played DoW much, but from what I have, I know I would like to see some freaking Devastator Squads for the Marines.
Although this is more a personal thing I guess, I would like to see the 'Kasrkins' changed to 'Storm Troopers' even though I know that they are not the same thing. Oh and a freaking Demolisher Tank (possibly upgrade from Leman Russ).

This thread should be more "Et Tu Relic" for not putting tyranids in
*skulks*
I think either SM/Chaos or Orks, should recieve those bikes for fast attack.
They are sorely missed by me =(, and the Ork need more melee, they seem too shooty.

Is that really neccessary when the standard squad can have 4 heavy weapons as is?
Although I suppose with different weapon options (plasma cannon, lascannon) it might work.
Agree with demolisherness though.
And I never thought the orks were too shooty, the only unit they have that can shoot worth a damn is flash gitz, which are possibly my favourite unit in the game.

From my experience in playing DoW (with good players), they are.

Or, as I said, nerf tacs so that they carry two weapons max.

Dark Eldar and Sisters of Battle, eh? That could get real ugly. I wonder how effective Homunculi will be in Soulstorm.
From my experience in playing DoW (with good players), they are.
Fair cop, I have an unfortunate tendancy to play via fluff.
And with orks, that leads to a "How much can I get this game to lag using only slugga boyz" contest.
Or, as I said, nerf tacs so that they carry two weapons max.
You would have to nerf everyone then, because most basic units can have more than 2 weapon upgrades.
And frankly, guard have been nerfed enough. (guess what army I play?).

Thats how all the races should be played :).
I hope that DE have alotta those speeder things there fond off
From the various videos they did. It also looked like they could shoot off the sides. So with any luck it seems they can be played the way they SHOULD be played.

I feel most of the races now are played like their "supposed" to be played, except for :
-Orks
-Necrons
Im happy with the other races, those 2 just need a lil reworking, I do hope that air vehicles arent "elite" because id rather have several smaller ones and one big one =P

Whenever I play orks, it always feels like I hit the pop cap way before I can get a decent-size army.

Fixed.
I'd like to see either Rough Riders (although I hate the idea of horses in Dawn of War - doesn't fit for me) or some other dedicated CC squad for the Imperial Guard, we really do need some love.
Oh, and possibly nerf individual Guardsmen (making them easier to kill, keep their shooting the same) - but make them cheaper/faster to reinforce making them more fluffy.
Oh, and possibly nerf individual Guardsmen
That can work but there would be waaay too many gaurdsmen in an army, i feel you can already mass em up nicely atm, although there attack is pretty similar to that off the SM rines but there really low morale counters it.
IG require alotta micro to use effectivly, as a IG player i feel there good but rough riders would own or being able to upgrade our heavy weapons teams to Morts =D

to my understanding tabletop Imperial guard is meant to be played such that their infantry is basically a gigantic meat shield, and their tanks do the bulk of the work, and in the game thats how it works, thus they are the same as table top, unless I am mistaken on whether or not that is how teh tabletop version of IG goes
Yes, IG relys on mass infantry/backed with heavyweapons/tanks.
As i ment by then being micro-Intensive, in 1v1 DoW most of the game takes place in teir 1 (in the small maps), in these battles you never upgrade ur squads with more men because it will put u at a disadvantage economicly, so that leaves u not much HP/morale to start with.
=P, hellhounds shine in 1v1
Hellhounds need Fire on the Move back. a big stream of fire generally shouldn't not even hit the ground just because a vehicle is moving. Even if it misses, it should still cause some splash damage where it hits.

Rotateable buildings.
Because sometimes its a bugger to fit stuff where you want it, and more importantly, I want the firing slits in the Infantry Command to face the enemy, makes no differance to the game but it would look a damn sight better.
