It's pretty unsettling to think how this group of people could bring this kind of agenda forward supporting nothing short of a military state, and do it without having to answer to the law. I want to know what you think about Cheney's effort to increase presidential powers during wartime in America.

Does the President need more power? If so, what powers does he need in times of war, and why?

If you think the Presidency needs more power during wartime, do you think Cheney's course of action was justified, independent of the law?

Welcome to the American empire?

But anyways, seriously, isn't this more or less exactly why the system of checks+ Balances was put into the American government when the nation was founded, to prevent exactly what's going on now from happening? Yeah..keeping the government from bowing to the whims of one dude=bad. I dislike the totalitarian shift the government is making in the name of fighting an abstract concept that's killed less Americans than a year of drunk driving accidents. (roughly 5x as many, according to This website (http://www.alcoholalert.com/drunk-driving-statistics-2002.html).)

Er...yeah. Emergency powers for our new Texan emperor.
