Anyone think SC2 will replace SC:BW in the World Cyber Games? THink that the old SC1 champs will keep their titles?
How big will they be, how much bigger will the prizes be?
And omg the pimpest plays....

SC2 will probably sell bigger than Halo 3, everyone will have it. So I think it'll take over SC1.
I personally think that StarCraft II is shaping up to have a totally different set of tactics and even micro and macro to SC I, in a lot of ways, so it would be a shame to see SC I go, because it values different skills (from the looks of it).
It all depends, really, on how well SC II does and if WCG are brutal enough to drop SC I even if SC II is worse.

I think they will differ in tactics enough to be considered two different games in WCG. I think SC1 will keep it's place in the leagues, and if SC2 turns out to be good enough than it will probably have it's own league.
the first time sc2 makes appearance on wcg I believe SC1 will too. After that I'm not so sure though... Btw, if you go to wcg to vote for the games to be picked next year into wcg, RTS section has both SC:BW AND SC2. Do they know that it'll be released by then? or perhaps they just want to make sure that it'll be there IF it comes in time? Who knows.
Either way, it'll be a huge blast.

Ehhh....not THAT big, but it will be big.
I don't know if SC2 will entirely replace BW in WCG, but I definately see SC2 becoming very well known in the progaming industry.
At this point I'd say that it majorly depends on how SC2 fares to keep up with the SC-BW set standards while keeping a new edge into it (and would say mostly due to it's more recent game engine tech' being employed).
So far am liking most of the things that have been seeing, although am cautious to say that it'll end up as blasting success as the previous was. And my reasoning to it is that most of the original team, if not all, have left Blizz' and that coupled with the different mechanics being used into it. Being a WC3-TFT player as well lets me know that not all spells will be in autocast or the macro' control will be eased up too much as is being implied over this section. But we must ponder really well and be awesomely aware that the game is not finished yet and there are many things left to iron out and balance as the latest batch told us that the Thor might not see the light of day afterall.
And furthermore, if WCG already has a SC2 option to vote I think that they're just being cautious in case the game is released before the event takes place.

Well, not sure if this is much of an argument, but WCG doesn't include WarCraft 2, now does it?

I think the series is just as big as Halo. I would argue it will have much longer staying power than Halo as well. SC1 is almost 10 years old--and still kickin'.

I think that's because WCII was one of the crappiest sequels ever made. I don't really know anyone who plays that game.

Do you even know what are you talking about? :P WC2 (the timeline precursor to SC-BW) was way better than WC and so you know we still make a few game nights with it. :)

Those are some pretty hasty words based on something you "heard." I played the game for years.. it was awesome in 1995-96. Times have merely changed.
I think SC1 will be an exception, the game is clearly going no where.
