I stumbled across this screenshot that shows the "flare" ability for the Medic. Sounds a lot like a comsat scan.

Aye, but:
-Short range probably, similiar to Medic's Flare range in SCBW
-Maybe it only removes FOW and not cloaked units?

Possibly, there's not any more info on it other than that screen that I've seen thus far.
- Unsure on revealing cloaked units.
- It did have limited range.
that would be rigged if it could detect.
Why? Comsat's not "rigged". Of course, you don't have that many comsats, but I can't remember the last time I completely ran out of comsat at any given time. In fact, since it's probably a short-range ability, the only way to make it useful is to give it detect, and maybe not even then late-game, assuming the Nomad remains a detector like the SV.

Information definitively gathered from BlizzCon.

And frankly, you don't use O. Flare that much in BW melee. Reason why they thought of changing it, IMHO.
Nice avy proto >.<

Oh for heavens sake...
Has none of you ever used the WC3 Mortar Teams' flare ability before? I imagine the medics' flare will work much the same way.

I'm sorry that the SC2 forum isn't populated by avid WC3 players.

Thats quite what I thought aswell. But WC3 has no units that attack cloaked
that I recall. Thus that would make the Terran Medics Flare infinitely more powerful then the Mortar Team's Flare.

Not as so much as that, but considering how much the members here like to bash on WC3's faults, you would think that they would know something about the game, no? ;)

WC2 gave way to SC, which gave way to WC3, which is giving way to SC2. It's a fact we have to accept and something that's really obvious. Lets just HOPE they keep SC as SC.
But WC3 has no units that attack cloaked
that I recall.
Yeah, that sucked. By the time you had a Shadow (I THINK that's what it's called in english) there was no use for it, since you had already scouted your opponent.

Or died because you could never micro your hero and macro your base in mid game at the same time and died. :(
I think its a Shade. I honestly don't know because their massive uselessness, I never made one. Go figure eh?

Shades are definitely not useless... I admit I rarely use them, but in 1v1 or 2v2 games they are very useful at teir 2 if you're planning for wyrms at teir 3. 1 shade can sometimes decide a game with creep-jacks or town hit-and-run tactics. (let the shade follow their main hero)

Save it for the Warcraft forum.
I'm still wondering why this ability had never been noticed before (that I know of).

It was noticed by some of us. Its just that it was never a major topic of discussion until you brought it up.
