Wat up all, I just started playing starcraft again, i havent played for about a year now, but thie games is awesome. But I have a problem, the last time i played the valkyries for the terrans they were actually useful. But now the valkyries wont fire at all or fire every once in awhile. Most of the time they just look at the enemy and do nothing, whats going on with that. Is that just happening to me or what. PLS explain what happend.

Valkyries can only fire on air units. Perhaps you are trying to target ground units? They may also be laden with acid spores (devourer attack status-ailment) which slows down fire rate.

If there is too many units on the map, then the sprite limit will max. The valkyrie's attack uses at least 16 sprites and the sprite limit is 1024.

yea i had that happen to me with all of my units that have a separate sprite for firing.. i had an army of Valkryies/BCs/Wraiths.. they would only fire once in a while.. but since there was many of them.. they still had a devistating attack
this was on an 8 player ffa

This is what I'm putting my money on. The "7-up bug" usually only crops up when playing UMS maps, but I suppose it's very possible to happen in normal games - especially if there's a lot going on at once.

Yeah, it has happened to me on Use Map Settings and I never knew why.

Hmmm the sprite thing makes sense, cause i was playing an 8 player ffa and there was a LOT going on constantly. so i think you guys were right. Thanx all.

or wraiths/carriers/corsairsi dont know but i only lost about 20 out of all of them by the time the game was finished...
by the time they attacked me with their anti air weapons... their bace was all all but destroyed.. as you can see in pic #3.

they didnt bother me that much because they had the same problem i did... not enough sprites to fire... muahahaha..

A sprite is a graphical file that represents a piece of data. Starcraft uses .grp files (located in various .mpq files) as the graphical representations of the data for the units. Each bullet also has a sprite. However, if the sprite cannot be used (due to maxing the number of sprites), the attack will not occur due to the error.
Sprites are not something you can manipulate in game.

I noticed on Turret D Competition if there were more than 3 players the valks didnt work.

Now I think I've understand why a map I made a while ago didn't work properly when test played...
The map had a lot of rush triggers n' therefore many units in those! In those days I suspected the map file was corrupted, due my laptop's crashes (shutdowns) over low bat.power when I was editting the map...
What do u folks, around here, think? It was caused by over 'spritting' or short PC power (that did my map editor) lockdown the file?
Thoughts any1? [Don't flame me, I know this is a (Tm) from some1 else around here...] ; p

I noticed on Turret D Competition if there were more than 3 players the valks didnt work.Thats what I think, too many units in game = valks break
