Do you think that blizzard is going to have at least a beta for eveyone to try it out? at least i think they are going to have a demo?

So... Yes, or No on the BETA of Starcraft II?

What Blizzard game in the past ten years hasn't had a beta, exactly? This sounds a lot like asking whether the sun's going to come up tomorrow, and has approximately the same answer: Yes, unless aliens invade and stop the sun and earth from moving.

It's obvious that they are going to release a demo. Nearly EVERY game company with brains does this - People can try it out, fall in love with it and eventually buy the full game. It's a better soul harvester than screenshots and videos, no matter how cool those are.

I gotta remember ur post anoiktos, cause it would be funny as hell if there was to beta.
Guess aliens did invade the solar system.
There should be a beta, it means I would get to play earlier.
So there will be a beta... or else.
I wonder how different it would look from the full version?
Would everything be balanced by then?

That's an extreme comparison for a situation like this...especially one that could be wrong.

A beta? I would put money on it.

A demo? I don't think they would initially have a demo.. but that's just the impression I get. There are a lot of RTS' coming out these days with demos, but I'm not so sure that Blizzard will follow that path. I can see them releasing the game and then down the road releasing a demo to try and convince those that didn't initially purchase the game.

I think they should do a Demo, in the same way Blizzard always do, with a 'Prologue' style campaign. It works really well, probably doesn't take an awful lot of effort and really helps their games stand out from the crowd, IMO.

As PC gamer said in one of its articles, a good Demo should be like a 'best of' pastiche like you get in film trailers, that doesn't spoilt the game but gives you a flavour of it.

If StarCraft Original's demo had just been the first few missions of the Terrans (with no Siege Tanks:P), I probably wouldn't have bothered. Blizzard like to wow people, and an excellent demo can really help swing things. Then, they can still release these maps to owners of the game like they did with the Precursor missions. It was the strength of this demo that inspired me and got me into Blizzard games, and its resonance will always be with me.

Just my two cents. If there's one thing Blizzard is masters of that no-one else seems to have achieved, it's Demo making (but I haven't played every single demo, so I'm sure theres some other diamonds out there)

Blizz' since long have made similar stuff to this. Gladly, I must say. :)
We all know about the SC Beta CD, along with it's demo'. Same has been made for it's older games, like for instance Diablo 2. I really doubt that they'll vary much from that winning formula.

SC2 beta... Yes there will be one, and those that got SC2 beta key from blizzcon can get it. But if they're gonna accept people besides those who came to blizzcon, I dont know.

Should I be wrong, I will stand corrected. And I agree - it would be funny. It would be hilarious. I would be quite entertained by their decision not to have an open beta or stress test of a game in which they're trying to overhaul the battle.net system and introduce maps with more players than their previous games.

I, for one, wouldn't bother playing online until two weeks after release if that were the case. I had quite enough of lootlag during the early WoW beta and stress test.
