I don't know if any of you have looked more closely on the new screenshots, expecially with the BC and the tanks in the desert. If you look more closely, you could see that the tank is so big that about two or three could fill the same space that a battlecruiser does. Maybe they should resize the BC and possibly some other flying units to make it look more realistic.

This really belong in the SC2 section.

And starcraft is notorious for being off-scale. I don't see that changing in SC2.

1.)Starcraft is not meant to be scaled realistically. The BCs would take up a whole screen or more.
2.)Wrong forum.
3.)Welcome to warboards. :)

This is badly scaled!

Badly scaled? This... is... STARCRAFT!

There was an RTS with units scaled properly. It was called Supreme Commander.

It didn't work too well, unfortunately.

SupCom is decent game, it's just the hardware requirements that killed it.

As for unit sizes, would you rather have BCs that fill the entire map ? Did you even see the size of those things ?

Exactly. And the *reason* its hardware requirements were so steep is that it took everything to scale, and to take everything to scale while still being playable, it had to have the zoom capability it does.

If you think about Warcraft III, a Knight takes up like 1/5th of a barracks. If you put him next to a farm, the knight is freakin bigger than the farm. So scaling in a strategy game really is not that important.

I can't see where the Starcraft 2 forum is, and I didn't mean to have the battlecruiser fill the entire screen, but to have it maybe a little bit bigger.

I think the best example of bad scaling can be found in AOE. Put a war elephant next to a castle. Its almost half as long. Then go on google and look at a real castle.

Yes, but if those two were at the real scale, your elephant would be 1 pixel big.

sadly that's probably true.

I do agree that larger units should be made larger, but not by too much. It would help the whole awe-inspiring fear factor to have big BC or M'ship, but obviously, you couldn't put them to scale.
