OK, my gaurds are almost done played some games etc, now my plan from the start was one army in both, so i can play with anyone and see both sides.

Well i think the time has come to atleast settle on a race, I dont think ill be buying the Starter thingy for it because personnaly i feel it would be a waist of money (already owning the 40K starter set, i dont want to own them all lol).

Heres my preffs
-Doesent rely on size to win
-An evil oriented race (it doesent worry me here but its a change from the gaurds)
-Im really not too keen on an army with just horsemen so thats like 1 race gone

The armys iv been looking at are:
-Dark Elfs
-Skaven (lol numbers! but there rats =))
-Hordes of Chaos
-Tomb Kings

Now all you fantasy battle peeps brag about ur race or suggest one, if it helps i play IG in 40K.

The only ones on that list that I've seen in action are tomb kings and Skaven, and IMO, tomb kings are better.

No one plays it but it is very good. There is more to it than 40k. I think Tomb kings are pretty good, Hordes of chaos are really great to make a custom army. Since you love horsemen so much, you could make an all horseman hordes of chaos army, with knights, marauders and warhounds or perhaps screamers for screening (sheilding) your knights.

At my local GW its all i see played, so there must be a big community for it here, there is alot of 40K going on but more fantasy.

Ill go to the GW one time this week, suss it out, have a few games and ill go from there.

That expansion for it with the maps looks kickass and complex :concern:

Anything Chaotic has a lot of flavor because you get five flavors instead of just one, which is what you get with most other armies. Personally, I have a Nurgle-based Hordes of Chaos army and the atmosphere and attitude these units have, plus with a little help with Green Stuff, is immense. They're just fun.

Also they have more spikes than a spiky thing.

And just look at the chaos warrior models, I dare you not to get exited in a disturbing way.

And its a very different kettle of fish from Guard, its very small and its entirely combat based.

Skaven have a good amount of funkyness that they can be getting on with as well though. And can shoot into combats in classic "they're expendable" style.

Im browsing the minatures now there awesome lol, I love the way with hordes of chaos theres the different leaders.

Hmm the Dwarfs dont look too bad ashame they only have 2 types of core units, also i love the forest elfs.

Oh god its so hard too decide!

I play lizardmen, but I would recommend you stay away from dwarves.

Simply because I keep losing to them, and there's too many dwarf players thanks to skull pass. >.>

Coming from a chaos player that really does sound odd.

Well, Heresy is somewhat subjective.

Wood elves are a small hard to use, shooty and manovourable army whose victory revolve around scenary. Personally I like them quite a bit and have a woodelf background on my computer, even if I play vampire counts.

I'm not really sure about high elves or dark elves, I think high elves are mostly shooty with spearmen to engage C/C units and decent cavalary to pwn their flanks. I think dark elves are mostly C/C, their warriors can having repeating crossbows which I don't think are that great, unless you can lure a horde enemy past them, and dark elves don't seem to have anything for the luring. In terms of looks, definitely dark elves win, though their lack of plastic models may make them expensive to collect.

High elves are getting updated soon, so I'd wait a bit before you decide which type of elves to collect.
