I notice ud players(Myself as one) not using ghouls much anymore. Mostly ud players use the fiend and strat.

Because with the things the way they are in FT, ghouls get raped.

If you wish to use ghouls, use aboms with them, or use necros and statues.

Mass ghoul dual aura does not work anymore.

thats a understatement, i think 85% of UD players go fiend/stat

yah cause most of the ud players are huge fucking newbs.

i go dual aura ghouls almost every game, then get whatever tech i need. mostly statue/wyrm.

all these fiend massers are people who use to play another race and never actually went ghouls
sad really.

Fiend massing is only common at lower levels of play. Once you get higher up, you see more and more tri-hero + ghoul strats, similar to those in RoC. The biggest threat to ghouls is AoE damage, and if you hero nuke, you don't need to worry much about that.

ghouls are useful as decoys, send them in first, like send in 10-15 of them, then send in your forces, and kick the crap out of them.

Exedore is right. DK and DL. sleep, vamp, unholy aura, coil. I never saw anything when used so nicely vex me so deeply. Unholy ghouls can run fast enough to surround a hero before sleep is done. High level players often avoid direct combat and use hit and run techniques which make Unholy frienzy the god of all hit and run auras. Primarily targeting the hero making an army only half as effective without its keystone.

most people underestimate ghouls cause theyre basic units. And theres also this "meh...it chops wood! what good can it do??" ideology.

Personally, i go ghoul as often as i can and them adjust according to what the enemy is doing.

they have been out of style except in inhouse clan gaming solo matches, they essentially were in style for a while in RoC on that one patch but once they were nerfed they got ignored by most players also

im a bit of a rt player (sry..) always teammates ASK for mass fiends..

:\ ghouls are pretty much meant for dying. when they have stats/vamp aura/unholy support then they're a bit more useful but other than that all you need are necromancers to keep raising skellies from the ghoul corpses.

the new meat wagons corpse carry makes ghoos kinda superflous, just sub them out late game for aboms and carry ur corpses to the fight

Yea basically what mordecai said is right. Ghouls were meant to do damage fast but they also get owned fast. They only cost 120 gold though so it makes them sort of a "disposable" unit. The problem with ghouls is that aoe owns them hard because of their low HP.
