Reputation Balls?

Whats with the reputation balls?

We've been passing reps for years and it doest do anything beside make your ball turn blue and it ppiles up?

Atleast Sen's Rep(Minerals) can be used for their access in the website

Just what is the reputations here for?

The way I see it with SEN's current minerals system it's more of a way to keep you posting so you can 'buy' an avy and siggy space and access other features on the site more than showing how recognized you might be.

Though around here the karma spheres just mean how humourous, intelligent or appreciated you are. Generally it helps bringing the best part from members and create a better ambiance onto the forums hence it's entangled appreciation factor.

To be honest, I don't care that much about both of'em. But I can tell you this - most of my WB's rep' comes from helpful, insightful or humourous remarks that I've made. ;)

Yeah, well, I go less by the rep balls and more by the rep level.

If you disable pictures and javascript on Mozilla (which I generally do, since I'm forced to pay by the megabyte) Instead of their picture, you get their rep level (as I like to call it). Currently I'm a level 2 warboardian. :D

It goes by how much people like your posts, not by how long you've been here. If people dont like you, don't expect alot of +rep.

Just looked it up.
Reputation power is how many points you add to someone's reputation when you approve of one of their posts. Your reputation power will increase by one point depending on:
Days since registration (every 365 days)
Post count (every 1,000 posts)
Reputation points (every 100 points) Administrators give ten points of reputation.



In other words, you can GIVE an extra +1 rep. That doesn't mean you get a free ball. If you have 100 rep, you give an extra 1+. If you have 1000 posts, you give an extra +1 rep. If you have been here 365 days, you give a +1 rep.

Aka, every +rep you give to SOMEONE ELSE will be worth +3. You do NOT receive a free ball.

Example:

The site recognizes me as having been a member of WB for 3 years, so thats 3
I have ~4,000 posts, so thats 7 total so far
I have 568 +rep points myself, so thats 12 total

Now then, every time I give rep to someone else, they will recieve +12 points.

So... I just read the rep FAQs 'cuz I was wondering if my +rep would even count (been here less than a year, have less than 1k posts, and less than 100 rep points). It states that you can +rep after you have 25 posts; I assume this means I can give +1 rep (sad). Is that added to the seniority/postcount/replevel calculations? 'Cuz, I think proto is off a little in his calculations.... :rolleyes:
