It depends, if ur new to the game, want too rush through the game etc.

If ur new id recommend Barb or Pally, good spells that help defeat monsters and there tough.

My personal fav hero, is the Druid.

There is no best hero, in D2 it all comes down to ur gear.

Summoning necromancers. They can kill Diablo on Hell difficulty NAKED (or so I've heard)
Never tried it myself, but I have one, and it kicks ass. Not great in PvP though.
