Usa's economy was failing a bit before the iraq war. It's been failing since then. The war was just a cover up for this.

The US has been printing money like mad since the Clinton administration. And the economy's been doomed ever since they took the gold standard out of the money.

Haha, wow. You aren't good with math are you? The American dollar is still a bit stronger than the Canadian dollar.
"1 US$ = 1.03 CND$"
That means it takes more Canadian dollars (.03 more) to equal one dollar. I think this is the second thread that had a false "Canadian Dollar is stronger than the American dollar" statement.
Unless you meant that it takes more than 1 Canadian dollar to equal 1 American dollar. In that case, it's been like that all along.

When I went to canada about a month ago they suggested paying dollar for dollar, as they'd only give you 99 CND / 100 US
it was grand. <_< Especially since the prices up there haven't lowered :(

Didnt the gold standard get abandoned around the time of the first world war? Mainly because it was a bit crap?
At least one reason Americas economy is on the slowdown is there is too much focus on protecting its heavy industries, a first world country can never compete with a third world country on the basic industry level.
Get a service economy.

It was only abandoned because the government was spending more than it could bring in, in precious metals. Albeit technology research has benefited from it and the US may not be where it is today it's no excuse because, when this overly inflated country finally does collapse, it's going to make the Great Depression seem like nothing.

This is why I have a substantial portion of my savings in other currencies right now and not dollars. I recommend everyone do the same. Buy a CD from a foreign bank or something.
Still, you can bet that soon after a new president is in office the US will implement some shady and unscholarly artifice of economic policy and the dollar will start to rise again.

Haha, Xodkrm, you can't just change the numbers around and make it true. The US dollar is still stronger than the Canadian Dollar.
It's still 1.00 US$= 1.03 CND$, or so says Yahoo.
It was only abandoned because the government was spending more than it could bring in, in precious metals.
If that was the case why did EVERYONE abandon it? (okay, there was a war on) but AFTER the war Britain alone took it up again only to drop it once more after just a few years.

Its not going to be long until China beats the US.
Ask Yahoo (http://finance.yahoo.com/currency/convert?amt=1&from=USD&to=CNY&submit=Convert)
Maybe the reason why Bush is pulling out American soldiers from Iraq is because of the lowering of their economy.

Nixon administration (I believe) is when the US got off the gold standard - someone verify this for me because I could be wrong.
Possibly, it seems that the gold standard or something approaching it was taken up again in 1946 after a 20odd year gap.
But frankly, everyones economies are doing pretty well, not being the absolute best economy in the world is not neccessarily a cause for concern.

Ok, now, the U.S. dollar and Canadian dollar are just about exactly the same. The only difference is in the thousands, and so the U.S. dollar is leading by an insignificant amount. Just shows the results of the irresponsible monetary, foreign, and domestic policy that we've had.

but the caymen islands is a independent country??, does it have an army?, is caymen islands a colony of england, common wealth or something :P
Well, for a start all commonwealth countries are Independant. They just nominally have Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second as head of state (possibly so they can compete in the commonwealth games)
The caymen islands DO however come under the heading "under British soverignty"

No it does not. The pound sterling is significantly stronger than the US dollar and Britain's economy is not.

It shows more about our economy than any others. We've had a lot of inflation over the past few years, and confidence in the dollar is sinking very fast. Foreigners are converting their assets from dollars to euros and other currencies.
