As my first post here let me start by saying thank you for welcoming me. I hope my comments can add to the intelligent dialog.

Developers have you considered adding a headset option to SC II or at least some sort of pre-saved text option?

here's why: i believe that battlenet is hostile to new people, period. i have often been in team games where one guy says he's new and doesn't know how to ally. Or some guy needs help with his build order "how do i make such and such." at which point people on his team quit. just flat out leave.

these peopl *forget* that at one time we were all new and needed instruction.

On the other hand i can understand the frustration, it's difficult to stop your own build and start typing instructions "Do you see the handshake...it's on the bottom left click on it...etc.." "Ok, you want to build this, well you'll need to make this structure first...." "There's cannons swirling in your base quick kill the worker!" Whatever. if there was a headset option i could just chat without stopping.

But some may object to this. Maybe a simpler solution would be to give the player an option to type out whole sentences, instructions whatever then save them to keys on the numeric key pad (on the right) then these would be saved. Once a game actually begins i cant simply push a key 1-9 (maybe also even shift + 1-9 to double the amount) and lo and behold i can give instructions, battle strategies etc.. all without stopping my build.

no idea is perfect and if someone can point out a flaw or something i'm overlooking please point it out. i don't hate knowledge i love to be taught.

P.s
New people are the life blood of Starcraft and the online community. Without them battlenet would quickly fade.

SC.org is in no way directly affiliated with blizzard or SC2 developers. If you want to directly contact them, try Battle.net forums. (http://www.battle.net/forums/board.aspx?ForumName=sc2-general)

Not as many ppl are willing to 'waste' the time to help training a newcomer into the games' basics (ain't solely speaking about SC-BW here). Most of'em just want a quick game and don't realise that aiding others to improve will only serve to increase the level of the future competition along with some e-friends for later on matches.

I still recall training a few rookies in the ways of AvsP 2 and after a few matches they were almost fit to engage me on a mano-a-mano. That time I've spent gathered me one of a few well spent games I've had later on when we met again a few weeks later and also a few e-friends that I could match with without the cursing that usually goes around a FPS for killing a foe with a sniping disc blade. I still recall being tutored by (the fellow WB'dian) 'Kismet at WC3-TFT trying to aid me to find a race that I could easily adapt to. Although a rarity (and losing big time on some occasions), all those moments were well spent imo.
*Wink, hint* Summing up, although it may seem a loss of playing time it usually pays up in the long run. :)
*Meh* Consider this my mildly amusing rant/drivel of the day. :P

And last but not least... welcome on board, Ideology. ;)
