I first got Starcraft for my Nintendo 64 sometime in 2000 and then a year later I bought if for my PC, and about a year after that I started playing on B.net, and I still do. What I want to know is why?

Starcraft is one of the oldest games I still play, made in 1997, 1998? I find myself still sitting at the game replaying the campaigns, playing on B.net and trying to get the most out of various map editors.

There must be hundreds of other RTS/Strategy games out there where you don't sit on an angle trying to make the game look slightly 3D.

Chances are if you’re reading this you still play SC, Why? Don’t you have anything better to do?

It's a classic game, It has good story to it, and it was well done. This is like asking, "Why do you still play your old regular Nintendo?" I mean, there are so many good qualities about it. Sure it doesn't have beefed up graphics, but back in the day, old skoolin' Zelda was all I needed. That, and the fact that you can make maps forever on it, and still find out new things. Only recently did someone find out how to do double speed maps. Although everyone knows how to do it now, it wasn't known until recently. That proves there are still tricks to maps that we don't even know! I think I will be playing SC for a long time to come... Trust me, it's just that dang good! :)

I find many RTS games try to blend too many Genres - FPS/RPG ect, Starcraft is a core strategy game. With it's amazing balance of a game, sheer replayabilty and great storyline, I can always come back to the game.

StarCraft is a fun game. It's that simple. Though I'm hesitant to play (as Tenshi can tell you), when I get into a game my adrenaline is pumping and any worries of the game being boring are forgotten as I am immersed in thoughts of wether or not my Dark Templar drop will be successful. I've also got friends who still play. The community has gone to hell, and despite how fun the game is I can't and I won't play with hackers and newbies who have never played on a map other than "THIS IZ SERIUSLEE TEH FASTRIST MAP EVR MAED WE SWARE".

Beating hackers is one of the most fun things you can do. This is when your skill is truely shown.

The StarCraft universe has three totally unique and interesting races. Most strategy games have mirror races, or races that consist of mainly the same units. Despite the complete uniqueness of these races, they have been tirelessly tweaked and retweaked until the "balance tripod" has been impressively stable.

Coupled with the fantastic storyline, the strategical possiblities and the fact that it's easy-to-learn, hard-to-master, you have a game with such great replayability that the only thing that'll possibly kill it off is a successful StarCraft II.

well this is the story for me anyway. I only got the game the summer of 03 (last summer). so for me the game is still relatively new compared to you guys. There are many games that have better graphics than this game but what really matters is if the game is fun and I am sure most people here will say yes. Does it have replayability? Yes again but the reason because of that is the community behind starcraft. The people who spend DAYS and even MONTHS making a map. The good channels where you can just hang out and also the kind people (well not all are kind but I have met some really nice people in starcraft). Soon maybe in 2 years starcraft will lose its popularity and only about 2000 people will play starcraft on any given time but that problem will be solved if starcraft 2 come out which blizzard really has to do. THe best part about starcraft is that it is simple. It does not include moral and other factors that could make the game way to complicated. This helps center the game onto strategy and that is why we love it.

It's diversity is unparalled in any other game. Each game you play can be totally different from the last. Not to mention the incredible storyline, simplistic map editor, and the learning curve. You can pick up the basics in an hour or two, and still discover new things about the game years later.

StarCraft is fun because of its addicting nature. There is no better feeling than winning a game which makes you want to keep on going and losing just makes you want a rematch so you can improve. I'm personally addicted to this game and can never stop playing it.

Starcraft is just awsome, in both gameplay and story. It's awsome.

Now I just have to figure out how to work the editor...hey, can somebody start an editor tutorial thread? =P

Starcraft is never boring, until you run out of maps to play on. Then you make your own.

Which is how it stays fresh. That's why the map community is so big. We can create a ton of things that are cool, and play them. Somewhat of self expression ^.^

I love it because I'm constantly improving. Be it melee skills, map-making, whatever. It's all good.

Great Story, Great Character, Great Graphics, Great Fun. Whats wrong with it. Tired of playing the normal campaign? Go out and buy Brood War for ten bucks. Done with that? Then download a map or make your own campaign. Their are tons of things to do in Starcraft and all of them are fun. Starcraft is fun, and thats why I play.

I just played 3 rounds today. I lost all skills on zerg and terran. I can't believe it, but protoss seem to have stuck on me.

I don't really remember the hotkeys, but my fingers seem to have it's on memory. My hands seem to remember wut hotkeys to press. Very wierd.

Look at what Starcraft has done to me!!!!!!! haha. I haven't play this game for a while, was great playing it again.

Theirs just somethign special about it. I was on a surgar run at the local corner store which sometimes stocks computer stuff, and there it was looking at me, those three different faces calling to me and I had to have it. Thats when I became an SC addict. (Yes I bought It, no regrets.)
