Yeah, sure. Just not as a whole race.

What is with you people and hybrids? Every other day someone runs in and starts orgasming that there might be hybrids in sc2.
We know nothing about them or how they will affect the story of sc2- if at all.

i was just saying man... i made a poll so everyone can post what they think...
yeah, we didnt know about the xel'nagas too and we had a surprise, now they will be an important part of the storyline, and if that happened to the xel'nagas what could happen to the hybrids !!!

Ha, your poll got wtfpwned.
But still, it doesnt need to be another race. Just hero units.

Regardless, here's the answer to all this.
Zomg, 4th race!?!?!?!!!11one! (my favorite FAQ)
Blizzard has yet to publically announce any new races, or denounce them as it stands. However PC Gamer has proclaimed that there will be no new additions to the playable races (done in an exclusive interview.)
Blizzard Reps said this is because other games have added on one, two, or upwards of 10 races to their games, for the sole purpose of adding races. They, however, want to avoid such fiasco, and keep the game's soul for the time being. Instead, they hope to DIVERSIFY the three races already in existance, by stressing the strong and weak points in each race.
Although PC Gamer is a trusted source, and I agree wholeheartedly with their Blizzard Representative, no one on the official SC2 staff has specifically denied the existance of a 4th race, and speculation abounds because of a reference saying that "the xel'naga will play a major part in sc2." This quote, though, makes no indication that xel'naga will be any more playable or concrete than they were in the original.
Chill pill, please. There's no need to yell. Simply voted accordingly to my opinion. ;p

Of course there will be hybrids... ^_^
I just received a call yesterday from Blizzard that they need me to head to California to "talk things over".

Phailed humor. really, IF there are hybrids, I sincirely doubt that they will have any sort of visial importance much less level-changing game dynamics.

No. Just no. This subject has been miscarried so many times it's become an abomination. Just drop the "zomg +races!!!" topic.
Let's leave it at "hybrids", not "more races!"

They said they weren't going to add another race, so they won't add another race.
I think there will be hybrids, but they will be heroes or "special" units.

maybe hybrids as hero units, as the old option that had this poll...
if the xel'nagas will be an important part of the storyline, what could we imagine about the hybrids?

That they potentially have nothing to do with this game?

Maybe the hybrids = the xel'naga o.O Maybe the xel'naga were resurrected by the fusion of the zerg and protoss :O
(Random idea, hehehe)

Yes, as NPC units. Maybe even with a tech tree; fighting Hybrids would make a cool conclusion to the campaign.
Dark Origin is definitely part of the storyline. Zeratul's encounter with Samir Duran is directly referenced at the lore discussion. Also, there's this picture: http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Image:Hybrid.jpg (taken from the Artwork trailer).

Liek omg! You just broke this debate wide open!!!11!!!11one1!!!
Sarcasm aside, that picture is O-L-D.
They made no mention of hybrids, or even xel'naga for that matter, being a gameplay element (other than those gay obs-towers I've been learning about)
If you want the single mention that they said (which in your mind so obviously means there will be hybrid fights) it was that while off in space (on his own, mind you) Zeratul found the answers he was looking for (Regarding the Dark origin mission)
I personally don't think much more that is good (or not bad) is going to come of this thread, but if you disagree, proto, feel free to re-open it and I'll remove this post.
