Airships

Elrond is a huge kingdom, its main source of revenue is exporting its good to neighboring kingdoms through its airships. Elrond is built around these airships, the sky is filled with airships flying in and out. But there is a problem, Elrond's neighbor to the north, Gilandria, also uses airships to export there goods. Elrond and Gilandria are always in competition with each other, they always try to get there goods there first or undercut each other. With Elrond's new and faster model of airship, they have been gaining the upper hand. Gilandria seeing there export business starting to fail, start war preparations.

The Kings messenger bursted into the Kings room and kneeled before King.
"My lord, parton the interruption but I have urgent news, Gilrandia has blocked our trade routes" Said the messenger
"What? Why do they take such actions?" The king replied in shock
"My lord, I think that they mean war, they have out fitted there airships with cannons sir, they fired upon us, one airship was lost and another badly damaged." The messenger replied.
"Warn all airships that are leaving and contact all of are allies, ask them to send any available soldiers" The messenger quickly exited to follow the kings order. The King slumped in his throne, it seemed like war was inevitable.

That is the basics of the story, feel free to add to it and move it along. Your character can be whoever you want him to be, an Elrond/Gilandria airship pilot, a Gilandria/Elrond general, a warrior from another kingdom to help Elrond. Hope you join in

History: Runs an Airship with his father in Elrond, they barely make enough money to keep food on there plates. Unaware that he is going to get caught up in war.

"Dad what is taking you so long? We have to leave now if we are going to make it on time, this produce isn't going to transport itself you know." Said Van as he was untying there airship from the dock. His father was talking to another airship pilot, what was taking him so long. Van's father thanked the pilot and walked over to Van, "It seems that the trade routes are being blocked by Gilrandia and so far Elrond has done nothing about it yet. We will be risking our own necks if we decide to go." Said Van's father with a grim expression on his face. "We have to go father, we are already behind on our bills, if we don't do this job we will be in the poorhouse" Said Van still untying the ropes. "I know Van but I am going to go alone, it is to risky for you to go" Said Van's father, Van knew whatever his father said was final, there was no use arguing with him. "Yes....father" Said Van as he finished untying the ropes. "Don't worry my boy, I will back before you even know it." Said Van's father as he patted him on the back.
Van walked around the docks some more, he didn't like getting left behind. "Hey kid, do you know anything about airships?" Van looked around before spotting the man who was talking to him. He was a tall, tanned man with black hair and had an eyepatch over his left eye.
"Yeah, I have flown airships my whole life" Replied Van.
"I am Clyde Straitle, I own that fine airship over there, The Queen Bee is her name." Said Clyde pointing to a large, dark green airship, "so are you interested in joining my crew kid? I have been short handed lately, most of my men quit because are afraid of those blockades but I plan on sailing straight through them."
Van knew his father wouldn't want him going but this was something he had to do, "You got a deal Clyde, Captain of the Queen Bee." Said Van with a smile on his face.

I will probably join this one, but I'm a bit swamped at the moment. I'll edit this post to post my character if I decide to join.

Appearance: Tall, with a strong build. Worn, strong hands show years of work aboard airships. Has a friendly appearance, but is very strict about his work. He has brown hair, wears leather boots, with black clothing with white supplimenting it. Has an excellent reputation among other sailors from both sides.

Bio: Daska started sailing at age 12, when his wealthy father gave him a sailboat. He progressed to airships rapidly, and has over 15 years of experience. He now owns a shipping company in Elrond. The blockades forced him to switch his trading vessels into "Q-ships" (A tactic in WW2 that masked merchant ships with large guns to prey on unsuspecting U-boats). He is headed now for the blockade to see what's going on for himself.


That was my original BF character, but i'm going to modify/enhance it for this. I'll edit after breakfast.

Bio: Cid is a member of the Elrond Airship Pilots for years, and in his spare time, he modifys his airships, and most of the time, those modifications work. He is regarded as the best pilot ever. He normally fights from his airship, but when he has to fight man-to-man, he uses a large spear, which has saved his life many times before, but he is known to fight with his fists also.

Name: Ragnarok
Specs: 200 feet long, 3 decks, back thrusters, a large experiental front mounted laser, wingspan of 50 feet, 4 side mounted pivotal machine guns.
Bio: This airship is the best made. Cid received this ship as a gift years before, and he modified it alot, and now it has a front mounted laser that overheats after every use, side mounted pivotal machine guns which are fed bullets from the inside, and remarkable handling considering the size. Has an engine that is Cid's own design that is capable of taking air and filtering out the nitrogen, and producing thrust from the air, enabling it the run indefinitely.

Cid V. was lounging in the Game Room, when suddenly the doors opened and a short stump man approached the croud. He went atop table and said the following proclamation from the king; it says " All Miltary Personal are to report for duty, We are war."

Cid thought to himself " Damn it why now, when im trying to figure out the damn truth about my family."

Cid promtly stood up and left the game room. He sighed and looked hopeless at the sky, he thought "I better tell the crew about this great news, what hell am i saying. This is gona hurt me more than them....." Cid approached his crews barrack, he looked around and saw that most of the gaurds were asleep. He opened the door......his crew wasnt there. He had wondered where the hell his crew had gone. Then there was note on the bed...."Cid Valetines you are being relieved from your duties as of further, signed General Starks." Damn it, those fcking bastards..............

Cid H. was working on his airship, Ragnarok, when a man walked up and said, "Incredible piece of machinery you have there, Cid."

Cid stood up and asked, "Who the hell are you?"

The man replied, "My apologies. I seem to have forgotten my manners. I am Alexander, messenger sent by the king. I have some news. Elrond is going to war. The king would appreciate your help in the upcoming battles."

Cid's eyes went dreamy, "War. By god, I haven't heard that word spoken for years. I will gladly help. I am eager to see Ragnarok in battle."

Alexander says, "Excellent. The king would like to see you within two days. I am hoping that you will attend. I am also hoping that I can get a ride on your beautiful airship."

Cid laughed, "Alright. Get on. I have to go assemble the crew."

He hears Gilandria is losing money so he reckons Elrond will have more money to spend on him.

Appearance: Spikey blond hair, wears Dark violet goggles with bright green reflective lenses. Wears warm clothes and an air tank for the cold, low air pressure environment of the sky. Usually clad in a heavy, white steel reinforced threadded threnchcoat. Armed with wrist and arm blades, skilled in hand to hand combat, and trains this more as a hobby than as a carreer.
History: Works for a local messanging service, is one of their fastest flyers. Shawn is working whe nhe gets a set of messages to deliver to the members of the army fro them to take up arms, intrigued by the prospect of combat, Shawn dons his armour and sets out to do two things, deliver the messages, and apeal to the captain of an airship who may be willing to take Shawn into combat.

Cid looked down and sighed, he wondered what he was going to do now. His ship had no crew and required a man power of at least 15. Cid thought and thought, the bright morning had passed into night. Cid finally decided to create a job poster, he took out the pen and began to write.

Cid looked at the paper, "What a freaking piece of crap, what the hell am i doing right now. I need my old crew back, Smith Jones Fera...... Hmmm yes i could try and switch the transfer slips back to my ship. Those bastards wont know what hit them. Maybe i can get the help of that gulable idiot at the office department. Whats his name .....Rick James that his name.So tommorow we start." Cid begins to laugh maniaclly, and suddenly chokes on a luige.

Daska was away from port when he heard the news. His ships were full of spice and money, making him a prime target. He woke the crew and sent them to the lower decks to arm the boat.

Reoutfitted with hidden cannons, she moved on, towards Elrond. Daska had heard about an enemy blockade, which would be a problem. As his craft flew silently just above the water, he contemplated what he would do when he reached the blockade.

As night fell, the crew drifted off eventually into sleep, but Daska could not. He remained awake all night in his crow's nest,....watching,....and waiting. After hours of sleepless work, he nodded off, and the ship continued to sail south towards Elrond.

With the engine full throttle, the Queen Bee lifted off the docks and into the sky. The ship was old but it had a lot of power and was pretty fast.
"Hey Van, do you have a weapon?" said Clyde
"No, sir" I replied
"Here, take this, you are going to need it" said Clyde as he threw me a broadsword.
"Keep alert, we will be coming up on the blockade soon, and Van keep the ship as low as you can" said Clyde. Following his orders, I eased the ship down so the bottom was just skimming the ocean. I wonder if father made it

Cid H. just finished gathering the crew. The whole crew was already on the Ragnarok, prepping it for takeoff.

Cid walked up to Alexander, and said, "So. Did you get a good tour of the ship?"

Alexander jumped, "Oh. Hi. I didn't hear you come up. Yes, I did and I must say again that you have a remarkable piece of machinery here."

Cid chuckled, "Yes, well, it is usually expected that a captian knows enough about his ship to be able to approach and not be heard. If you logged as many hours on this ship as I have, you would also know how to walk about without having your feet clomping, alerting everyone of your presence. Now, you might want to get settled into your cabin. We have a bit of a flight ahead of us."

Cid turned and walked to the bridge. When he arrived, he yelled, "ALL CREWMAN TO THE BRIDGE!"

Cid waited for the command to echo throughout the ship, and heard the distant rumble of approaching people. Cid waited for the crew to assemble, then said, "Hello to you all. It has been a while since I have last seen you all together like this. As you all know, Elrond and Gilandria are not on speaking terms anymore. You all have probably heard the news that war is upon us. Well, that news is not rumors. It is fact; Gilandria and Elrond are now at war. I have called you all here to tell you this, and this only: we are going to fight in this war. We were called upon by the king. I ask you all one final question: Are you all willing to follow me into battle, unsure if you will return?"

One of the crewmen spoke up, "Sir, Yes, Sir! I would follow you to the ends of the earth if you asked me to."

Once this was said, there was a loud roar as every crewman present shouted their agreement.

Cid said, "Excellent. Now, every man back to their post. We are to fly to the castle before we go into battle. FOR ELROND!"

There was a loud cheer, "FOR ELROND!" then everyone ran back to their posts, eager to follow their captain into battle.

Shawn had just finished dropping off the notices, and had returned to the hanger, when he came accross a poster requesting crew for a class 12 airship. Shawn took the poster and followed the information on it till he came accross Cid Valentine's air ship. Dismounting his owl Shawn made his way aboard the air ship and greeted Cid.

Cid examined Shawn from head to toe. He finally spoke "You are?" Shawn replied muttering "Im shawn." Cid looked at shawn and said i'll be right back. Cid turned his heels and headed to the admistrative office. Cid approach the office, and said to the gaurds "Ryvak Norash" a password to enter the office. The gaurds stood stared and knodded there head. He took the poster with class 12 and ripped it to shreds and then he head to his dear friend Rick. "Him i wonder how i can make him do my bidding like getting my crew back" Cid went up to rick and said " ISign here and here, and mail this to the Command Admistrative office, Alright?" Rick stared up from his desk and said " This won't mess me up like last time will it?" Cid looked back with a grin and said "maybe. maybe not just sign it"

Cid left the office and headed back to his ship for a long deserved rest. When he got back he saw shawn was still there waiting patiently as ever. I looked at him and said "you wanna join?"

Telcis had been flying around Elrond looking for the military base. After three hours of searching he found it. He swooped down into the runway and landed. A soldier ran over to his ship.
"Greetings. Telcis Crowtalon I beleive. We have received your message and we would be glad to admit such a legendary mercenary inot our ranks!"
"Why thankyou my friend. It will be both a pleasure and an honour to serve Elrond!" Telc salutes the soldier and jumps out of his ship. They walkup to the main hanger where Telcis meets one of the commanders of the space fleet.
"Greetings Mercenary Crowtalon!"
"Greetings. I have docked my ship and am ready to take orders!"
"Okay, I am sure you know that Elrond is at war. We have hired you to assisst us in battle. If you take a walk over to that building" Then Commander points "You will see a sign advertising the need for cover ships. Take a walk over there. You might see something that takes your fancy!"
"Thankyou!" Telcis walks over to the building. There are many people running about tinkering and fine tuning their ships. He thinks how pathetic their ships must be if they need to be changed. He then takes his thoughts back to the advertisment. Telcis' eyes saan the room and he spots the poster tacked to the wall. He strolls over to it and takes a long hard look. At the bottom of the page it reads:
'Help wanted. We need single manned ships to provide a fast and effective cover force to help protect the main attack fleet. The pay is 2000 gold pieces plus more depending on how good a job you do. If you are interested please report to hanger 15A.
Commander Vur Horston'
"Hmmm this sounds like a good job." Telcis thinks. He turns on his heel and shouts to the man nearest to him
"HEY! WHERES HANGER 15A?"
"JUST OVER THERE!" The man points to the hanger on the over side of the runway.
"THANKS!" And with that word Telcis walks out of the hanger and off to hanger 15A.

Cid had gone into his office, and told Shawn to wait, so Shawn took a seat in the lobby and grabbed a magazine, he was on his third when Cid returned.

"You wanna join?" Cid asked casually.

Shawn stands after placing the magazine on a coffee table and salutes, "Sir, I'll do what ever it is you ask, sir" Shawn knows he may be going a little to far, but he doesn't care, this is his chance to prove that he can be mroe than a delivery boy.

[Windwalker]

"Alright then you will be a co-pilot alright, meet me later in the month for your job"
A couple of weeks later............
Cid looked down from his seat in his airship. "Begin sequence A-B, prepare system check.............prepare weapon check. Pilot rudder 50 degrees north, activate engines power 20%. Get me the dock managar."
The helmsman began inputting information into his console and a strong and stern voice came through the speaker box. " This is dock control, you are clear to go!"
"All hands, prepare for launch." Everyone slide backwards as the ship lurch foward and up. "Pilot wait for the next convoy launch, and follow them out." The pilot took this time to input some codes into the computer and began showing shawn how to use the controls.
The convoy and Cids ship launch from Elrond.

Telcis walks into the hanger and up to a desk on the right wall. There is a small man sitting at it. He has tin orange hair, a small mouth, and a scar running down the side of his face.
"Commander Vur Horston?"
"Aye"
"Im here for the job. When do I start?"
"Now! The ships have already taken off. Let me take your name and then be off to help the strike force!"
Telcis turns and runs out the hanger and shouts behind him "My name is Telcis Crowtalon!"
He spots his ship and runs over to it. He jumps in the top and prepares for take off. The runwayman gives the all clear and he speeds down the runway in the direction of the rest of the fleet.
