What critters would you like to return, and what types of new critters would you like to see?

I want the rhynadon, scantid, and kakaru to come back (specifically) although I am not opposed to any of the critters making a return.

And I'd like to see some more critters with a real backstory behind them, like the scantid, who is so large because of Khoral IV's radiation.

Bengalaas,Ragnasaurs and Ursadons

We all love the cuddly Ursadons and Kakaru are cool because they are the only flying ones. How about random wandering Terran civs? Lol

Actually that one would kinda make sense, but it would require more intelligent ai...

Ragnasaurs, Rhynadons, Kakarus, and Scantids are cool critters. They should all stay in SC2.

Terran Civilians would be a good idea have them run around like random expos or something, especially in campaign, which they already have been anyways.

I'm thinking some sort of gorilla/monkey creature on Jungle tileset. Swinging in the trees or running around or something.

zomg big puffy white bear!!!!!! ...thats what i said when i first saw the Ursadons and thats what i'm going to say when i see them in 3d...wouldn,t it be cool if there would be gremlins to put in the instlasion tile set.

Protogod
08-10-2007, 5:34 PM
lol @ gremlins. I dunno, i think those are too much like orcs.

Am thinking that to add realism in every terrain type we should have more than one type of critters to emulate a natural environment with it's food chain and such.
Thereofore, imho, along with the Kakarus, Ursadons, Scantid, Bengalaas we could have a few more new just to add diversity onto map making and it's undoubtedly associated realism.

Protogod
08-10-2007, 7:53 PM
What about critters that actually attacked each other (food chain style)

Its a very random and unlikely idea, but I think it would add 'realism" to say the least.

Basan
08-10-2007, 7:55 PM
Even better. Although I didn't suggested it because most likely it would have to have an AI associated along with a priority targets list.

Yes, but watching bengelaas' eat civvies would be entertaining.

Kawagata

I'm actually hoping they would have some form of attack. They've taken it up the ass for quite a while now. Being poked at till they exploded. Being shot at by computer players.

SilverCrusader
08-10-2007, 9:34 PM
big boom ftw!

Protogod
08-10-2007, 9:36 PM
That'd be cool in multiplayer <.<

JarquaFelmu
08-10-2007, 10:07 PM
Haha yes! A food chain program would be awesome for the critters. Though to really pull it off the critters would have to reproduce as well, just so that they don't kill everything off.

Now I think it would be awesome if that boom actually hurt things. For crying out loud, its the size of a nuke!

Giantfish
08-11-2007, 12:14 AM
What's the point in them doing damage? Try and poke them so they explode and take out your opponent's forces before they finish off your last building?

DarkGunner
08-11-2007, 1:03 AM
how about a food chain, but with like the predators at the high end attacking you, at the other end running away, and in the middle they would just ignore you like cows or something.

apostolos
08-11-2007, 2:04 AM
That chain idea is great. But,does blizz even come here to hear our suggestions?

Basan
08-11-2007, 3:37 AM
Yes, but watching bengelaas' eat civvies would be entertaining.

I don't quite agree with the idea, but mainly for the melee setting. If that was to happen then the creep concept of WC3-TFT would just barge in (even though if it was well disguised). :concern:

I actually did this in my mod, because I used the rhynadon's GRP for a new unit. I just gave him the civilian's grp/portrait/sounds. was quite funny^^

Scantid, Ursadon and Kakaru. And new ones, of course

I really can't imagine why the fuck civilians would be wandering around a warzone.

Protogod

I really can't imagine why the fuck civilians would be wandering around a warzone.

Because you could do a cityscape deal in alot of maps (anything on badlands, pretty much) and even a few others like iceworld and desert (if you do it right)

and about the critters, maybe a land reptile could be nice, or an giant hawk

Ktan
08-12-2007, 5:26 AM
I don't think we are likely to see Critters attacking players, since Blizzard stated that 'then they'd be creeps', but a 'food chain' would be very interesting.

If the SCUMS editor is advanced enough, we may be able to give critters attacks. I'm not sure about the AI though, and whether that would need a 3rd party programme (which I suspect it would)

i thought of the perfect critter for space tile set... astroides... O god i can see the games all ready... Astroides Insanity V4!!! It'll be like zombie maddness but only worse...*shudders*

According to some of the strings in older versions of StarCraft, there were once "V'Ger (Space Critter)" and an Installation critter. I'd like to see those. :P

And yes, multiple critter types per tileset! I <3 my critters!

reddbeta
08-12-2007, 9:01 AM
well i think for each title set/ planet there should be a small echo system of critters some hostile and some not. heck why not have fish, and things that can live in tar/lava.

but what id really want to see with the critters is what the zerg where before they where taken into the swarm. that would add more lore to the SC universe

aAll very good ideas. I was thinking about that the other day. Why not include the slothein bear and such as critters? It would be very interesting and add a level of before-and-after to the zerg backstory.

if then critters could attack they would be called creeps and i dont want a repeat of the creeps in wc3

Haha, too bad I lost my copy of Zoo Tycoon. :(
I used to play that all the time and lately I've had an urge to play some Zoo Tycoon. Don't really know why, but whatever.

They have wandering civilians in C&C 3. It's kinda ridiculous, since they are totally oblivious to anything and only run when tanks are a few meteres away.

Adding Civ critters could be fun, but may not work. I would like to see human militia though. Probably not as creeps/critters, but in the campaign.

Protogod
08-13-2007, 2:33 PM
I would like to see human militia though. Probably not as creeps/critters, but in the campaign.

Well the thing is that, well, that's kinda Raynor's roll. His group is the one that goes under the radar of the main government.

The media and everyone says that Arcturas is a great kind leader and w/e. Raynor's forces and allies really are the militia already, so theres not a whole lot of room for these opposing "militias" when they go onto a new planet.

Ktan
08-13-2007, 2:48 PM
I mean sort of like the 'Town Militia'. A quickly roused mod armed with random weapons.

I mean, it's really fanciful, but it'd be fun to do, or mod in, at least.

Protogod
08-13-2007, 2:53 PM
i think that would be better as a mod that actual game.

08-16-2007, 4:57 AM
I'd just like them to have a map setting option that enables you to prevent the critters wandering around when they belong to you - that gets slightly frustrating in RPG's, and limits the uses for them.

Sento
08-16-2007, 3:17 PM
maybe in the installation they'll have droids runnin around.. just a thought

Basan

Mythological, flying creatures apart I think that SC2 is progressing nicely as it is. :P

It may not be perfect now but that's (hopefully) gonna be amended before it's release.

Yep. Warcraft 3 needed sc easter eggs to bring it up. WC easter eggs would bring sc down. i've actually heard of those. Their's an orc in marine armor in some warcraft game, i think prob WoW And as for bird units, let the kakura be captured by the zerg and made into a new unit, and bring in ... GIANT FLYING MONKEYS WITH JETPACKS!!!1! TATATADAAAAAA.

Actually, it's a genuine marine - you can also get a zergling and a hydralisk.

There was also a 'Space Orc' which looked a lot like one of the really old 40K Orks.

I think it had a flame-thrower, but I'm not sure.

for others anything can work
how about something to foreshadow diablo3 ?
what about a unit that can go underground?

Serban

My thoughts exactly... There just HAVE to be Diablo 3 easter eggs... Or Christmas presents, to keep it chronologically accurate.

I want to see the DNA sources for the Zerg.

Me want Dune Runners!

DarkMirror
11-16-2007, 1:21 PM
They would just be zerglings with worse HP, and no attack.

Anoiktos
11-16-2007, 1:33 PM
If they had an attack, they wouldn't be critters, they'd be creeps.

DarkMirror
11-16-2007, 3:15 PM
Also, all the dune runners would be long gone. Once a species is fully incorperated, theres nothing left. The zerg take the entire hom e planet of the race, and we can infer that the dune runners were a non-sentient species.

Thus, they are probobly/certainly extinct.

Anoiktos
11-16-2007, 3:33 PM
Ah, but you're forgetting that in ancient times, the Dune Runners split into two factions, the Duneranei and the Dune Runners we know, the Duneredar. The Zerg wiped out the Duneredar, but the Duneranei have yet to crash their spaceship into Raynor's, allowing...

Uh, yeah. <cough>

I think they need all the old critters because people were so fond of them (mainly ursadon and kakuru). I'd love to see them all in 3D.

TitanWing

Yes, the nuclear critters must return in SC2!

Basan
11-19-2007, 9:57 AM
*Gently nudges* Since many of the scenarios will take place in some terrains that we knew from SC-BW I'd say that the critters must return (in 3D form) and eventually adding a few more per tile set so it even resembles an alien ecosystem. ;)

And oddly enough those blowing critters never jumped before my eyes in SC-BW. Maybe I just didn't have enough patience to poke'em around 'till they did blow up. :P

AzVortez
11-19-2007, 5:36 PM

I know the Ursadon does... so they do xD I like all the idea's, although the attacking critters isn't something i like. maybe you could mind-control them with the new dark archon, send them to a gateway and give them a nice bonus weapon? it'd make a protoss invasion of a terran town a lot more fun to do i think. oh and i definately want a food chain. i mean, i've always wondered what the SC critters survived on....

apostolos
08-22-2008, 6:29 AM
no, they don't blow up in sc:bw. but we wish they did. They actually do,if you click them long enough to hear their 'quotes' 14 times ;)

I also want exploding critters to kill all nearby critters.

You speak lies. They do explode.

Sento
08-23-2008, 4:12 AM
they only explode in single player. they don't go kablooey in multi-player, but i wish they did... that would be a great 'mess with the newb' tactic since they look like nukes :D
