Several names of heroes are interesting

Gui Montag- That is similiar to Guy Montag a man who lights things on fire in the book farenheit 451

Torrasque - that sounds remotely like tore ass.

magellan- an EXLORER science vessel. Magellan was the first man to go around the owrld.

Duran and artanis could be like Duran duran and sinatra. A band and a famous singer

Also though it is not a hero.
On D-Day hundreds of paratroopers came down form airplanes.
D-day was originally code named Operation overlord.

Anybody else have any thoughts

Neat. But your Torrasque one was just nasty. Blizz wouldn't do that, the Torrasque is a mythical monster.

Yeah, that was kind of obvious except for the torrasque; DarkMirror is right about it. Here is a picture of a statue of one.

And of course Duran is like duran duran, his quotes are song names. >_<

Yggsdrasill was also another mythical name, but which came out first, farenheit 451 or SC?

Farenheit. If we're just going to list all the names; All cerebrates are names from Norse mythology except baelrog which if from LoTR, wraiths are called wraiths 'cause they can be invisible, goliaths are like goliath from biblical times, etc, etc etc. No need to list everything.

Duran has a reference to the 80's band Duran Duran (He says "I told you my name, it's Duran, Duran!" and also names one of their songs "Is there something I should know?"

Zerg Broods are named after Norse Mythology (most of them, at least)

Magellan: Ferdinand Magellan's Voyage Round the World, 1519-1522 CE

Torrasque: Tarrasque is a chinese monster - Roots

Yggrasil is the Nordic Tree of Life Which holds up the world and will remain even after the world ends.

I had more, but I lost their sources.

Gui Montag: Reference was to Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradberry, where the main character was Guy Montag, a "Firefighter" (in the book, a book burner).

Tom Kazansky: Ted Kazynski is the Unabomber; Tom Kazanski is ICE's Real Name in Top Gun

Dugalle was the name of a real Admiral in WWII

The Terran Battlecruiser commander is a Russian, as is the commander of the Yamato in Star Trek. The Yamato in Star Trek is NOT an anime reference, it is refering to the Japanese battleship Yamato, and the Terran Battlecruiser's special weapon is paying homage to Star Trek in this way, by having the commander of the ship that uses that weapon be a Russian.

Note: The Battlecruiser could be interpreted in several ways.

Mojo as in reference to Mojo-jojo?

Doesn't make any sense whatsoever, as Mojo in the english language is a slang term for "Groove".

The Yamato cannon was named either for the Japanese WWII aircraft carrier or the U.S.S. Yamato which was the sister ship to the Enterprise in Next Generation.

I personally liked the Yamato more...

Uh, or maybe its called an overlord because it controls the zerg underlings? :smirk:

Yamoto referes to a cartoon where they turned namesakes ship into a spaceship. Cannon is from the fact that it had an energy cannon that would blow up moons mounted in the middle of the ship.
