Why does everybody like Ethereal shit?

It has better stats, but you can't repair it. :?

Otherwise, being cold-sorc kind of blows. You can't farm very well with half the friggin' world being cold-immune. I've got two lightsabres, though, I think I may make a sword barb.

BTW, how do you make mules with one acct?

For Mules - open a server and wait for over 5 minutes, drop, exit, re-enter&pickup. It'll still be there (hopefully~ -.-).

That or just ask for help.

Mules are just characters that hold items.

Most people just make barbarians to hold them.

Aqo's suggestion does work -- I've done it often, however you can AND WILL (At some point, due to lag, or whatever) lose stuff.

You can however get help from the kind people @ (edit: USEAST only) op diabloii.net ("Can anyone help me mule?") they can all be trusted. Or any of us if we're around.

I never really liked the idea of dropping items in a game, leaving and then joining again with a Mule. I've lost too many items that way, so I'm not really a fan of that method. If you need some help transferring items, shoot me PM.

Also, for those of you interested I still have the Warboards account made on B.net if you guys would like to make characters on that account, or transfer items.. anything really. Again, shoot me a PM. ;)

To be fair, the method work fine, you simply have to wait a full 5-6 minutes -- and it's best to realize if the game your in is lagging (ie: type /fps and check the ping -- if its higher then usual, don't try to mule).

It works, and to be honest, I've only ever lost things twice -- and both were because I was moving in and out of the game to fast. However, both times my items were recovered because of some nice players over @ dii.net -- even got my items back the second time, but the first time I let them go.

This is after, literally, hundreds of transfers solo.

I never said that that method didn't work fine, I'm just not a fan of it because it doesn't always work out to my advantage. But I'm glad to hear it's worked well for you. :)

Actually, my preferred method of transfer is to get two of my computers and join the same game with them, then just transfer that way. But I understand that not everybody has two computers, and two separate copies of D2 laying around, so thats not for everybody.

Yeah, but then you run into other issues ;/ lol.

But really, if you need help, just drop me a message through Aim or whatever, I can get on and idle in a game for you.

Someone explain to me how to do the Uber bosses for a Hellfire Torch and all that jazz. I know there are keys, etc. involved?

you need a smiter paladin with crushing blow and life tap (from a wand is fine).

Gather 3 of each key (in hell) Countess = Terror Key, Summoner (act 2 arcane sanctuary) = Hate key, Nihlathek (act 5 halls of pain dude) = Destruction Key.

Make a game, in act 5 combine 1 of each key to create a portal, do it twice more (remember to move when you've created a portal -- they stack) in the cube.

Afterwards, each portal leads to a different "mini-uber" such as a supped up Izzy, Andy (Lillith), or Duriel. Lillith is capable of reducing the most tricked out character to death within a couple seconds, because of the poison missile/massive damage/amplify damage you've been cursed by every monster in her lair. So be careful.

The other two aren't that bad, Izual spawns in an area with a bunch of uber Oblivion Knights, which get annoying because of IM.

Once you defeat all 3, you get an "organ" from each one (like Meph's Brain, Diablos Horn, and Baal's Eye).

You combine these into a new portal which leads to Pandemonium Tristram where-in resides the Uber-Three.

Mephisto has conviction aura that reduces your resistance by -150. This is ontop of the Hell reduction of -100 base, which means you have to have +250 just to make even. However you need max to even hope to survive -- at the least you need to be able to smite faster then he and his minions can kill you.

Diablo is the easier of three imo, pretty much standard, more damage then the Diablo Clone, more powerful attacks, and can certainly kill you, but its the swarming of his minions + lag which will get you first.

Baal is difficult more because of the minions he spawns (both are Physical Immune, and the ghosts drain all of your mana). He also spawns a double which can be annoying as well.

But once you knock out Meph, the other 2 can fall easily.

I should note that this is not something you can do with a sorceress or any other kind of spellcaster. In fact the only 2 or 3 classes that can do it (technically any class could, but we are talking insanely perfect equips and rare shit out the wazoo) is first off: Smiter Paladin -- smite always hit, with cb and life tap, you won't die as long as you continue to swing.

Barbarian, S/S can survive pretty well, as long as you get life tap out, you should be able to swing and survive. Crushing blow is the key.

Frenzy Wolves can do it as well, but are weaker then the barb/pally imo. They need extremely good equipment.

The paladin is probably the best, because you can use auras like Salvation which boosts your resistances when facing mephisto.

If you'd like to check out a run, I could take you through one on Non-Ladder USEast with my old characters.

Barbarians are great mules because they start with a high strength, and you can easily add more strength or dexterity to gain up to 7 extra spaces (Helm, Body, Belt and 4 Weapons or 2 Weps+shields). Combine the extra levels from leveling, and you get 2 spots from gloves and boots and the 2 ring and one amulet spot.

And always perm your mules if your not an active D2 player. Otherwise you end up like me, with all my valuable items disappearing because I don't play D2 anymore.

Genocide Alive, the reason people like ethereal items is usually because they want to put a runeword in it. Breath of the dying gives a good damage bonus and the zod rune in it makes the item indestructible so it doesn't matter if you can't repair it since it doesn't lose durability.

I once found a etheral item of Self Repair.. Repaired 1 durability every 30 sec :)

Etheral items get bonuses +50% damage in weapons and +50% enhanced defense in armors -- in fact a good cube roll and you can turn an ethereal armor into a 4 socketed armor with a base of like 1300 defense, or more. Then further, turn it into a Stone which knocks the defense up to something like 3900+

Stick it on a mercenary and watch them never get hit.

That or make that "Mal-Tir" runeword in a 2 socketed armor like that, and it usually ends up with like 3k defense, on a paladin or barbarian, or even sorceress with skills that enhance your defense and you are looking at an insane total defense.

I actually re-installed and started playing Diablo II LOD again along with my gf. Up to level 20 :p

Anyway, noob question but is this done with mods installed or is that part of the standard game?
