View Full Version : Question regarding Buffs and Effects

I'm currently making a WC3 FT Mod using the World Editor, and I'm having a tiny bit of trouble. You see, I suck at it. That should be explanation enough.

One of my units is a Flamethrower. I'm trying to add an ability (One of those "always on" ones that adds an effect to an attack) that adds constant damage for a limited time. Right now, I have an ability called "Buuuuurn". The Effect I have is called "Napalm". Now, I've set Napalm as a Buff, AND as an Effect, attatched it to the ability, set the ability on the unit, etc.

The ability shows on the unit when I play. The effect doesn't happen.

If you need more details, feel free to ask. Please, for the sake of baby Jesus, tell me what's wrong.

Buffs are really only descriptions of effects.

You will have to make new ability that initially causes this
effect.

Donīt know exactly what form of such ability,
you will have to experiment.

Thanks for replying so quickly, first of all. Here's what I have set up for the effect:

Is an Effect: True
Race: Human (Units a human, I dont think it matters anyway)
Sound (Both of them): None

And the ability:

Stats-Effects: Napalm (The effect above)
Targets Allowed: Ground, Organic
Data- Damage per second: 5.00
Stats- Duration Hero: 5.00
Stats- Duration Unit: 5.00
Hero/Item Ability: Both false (Unit isnt a hero)

Donīt know exactly what could be wrong.

As the for the ability, It should work.
The effect/buff Iīm not entirely certain of.

But Iīm not really that skilled In the TFT editor.

I have made some nice SP RPG maps, but I have never
really made to many custom abilities In all of them.

Perhaps you should ask Exedore.

If only I could find a good tutorial. All the ones I've found so far involve editing game files.
