Good questions darkslayer. I think I'd go with the fully animated ones. I couldn't really imagine a guy in a Zealot costume. But you know, with the computer graphics these days, it could be possible. I mean, in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, I didn't think for a single second that the Hippogriff or the Demontors weren't real.

You might be interested to know that Blizzard have already purchased a copyright or something that means that they have exclusive rights to produce a StarCraft movie. Perhaps they did that just in case, or perhaps they were thinking the same thing we are.

You mean they couldn't use the game copyright? They had to purchase aditionals to create a movie based in their own universe? Also who the hell does blizzard/anybody pay copyright to?

An animated movie would be cool, they could leave the ending open leading into SC2. Or they could make a few movies based around the same events with different views/stories for each race.

Or base a movie on the events leading up to SC; while the book gives a really good description, I would like to see the portrayal on screen to get a feel for the actions...

Well, I don't think a zealot costume would be too appealing, but I think that live actors for the Terran characters mixed in with cgi Protoss and Zerg might just work. They could always just go full cgi as well, and that'd probably work fine seeing as how advanced computer imagery has become. I have no question the Zerg swarms would look incredible; I even compared the Oliphants in "Return of the King" to Ultralisks when I first saw the movie.

I think the storyline would be best if it were a retelling of the game, and not a sequel or prequel. It could chronicle the main characters - Raynor, for one, or Zeratul for another, or perhaps all of them at once - or it could be a completely different point of view; perhaps it is simply a single battle on Tarsonis after Mengsk lured the Zerg to the capital planet seen from the eyes of a squad of Marines and Firebats.

It looks like they did a pretty good job in AvP for Aliens and Predators. Since the Zerg and the Protoss are kinda similar to Aliens and Predators, they could possible make good graphicky characters.. but yeah.. yellow.. suit..

How about just making one movie, not put it in theaters, but put it into a collector's set and have the three races in metal on a Trilogy DVD case (like Aliens, Harry Potter (individual), etc.), and on every one of the three DVD individual cases put one of the 3 races on each of them, and make the storyline flow just like in the three games :D. You know what I mean if you've beaten StarCraft and followed the storyline ;)

Hey peeps don't u remember how they made Smeagle in LOTR? They could use those for the Protoss. The Zerg would prolly just be computerized, but the Protoss would be in da movie more.

But I'm not sure about a SC movie. If it followed the same storyline as SC1/BW, it'd be kewl. But sometimes game-movies don't turn out too great. I'd be worried.

But if they DO make a movie, I would want it as realistic-looking as possible. If it's done by Blizzard, they have a good job at making fully-animated cinimatics, so they should whip at it. If it's someone else, duck.

I also think that the way Gollum's skin looks in LOTR might be how the Protoss's Skin may look, i know that's not what u meant, u meant guys in suits with all kinds of tiny balls on them and they put info in the computer to make their movements seem super-realistic ;).

It's an endless struggle lol. Some of us want it to be fully PC Generated, while some of us want it to be like the new movie AvP (Aliens versus Predater, can't wait to see it by the way ;)) and some of us want it to be a mix between them. I say we should have a pole ;).

I thought SW epidode two was pretty good and looked good (good, but EXTREMELY long) anyway, A mix of both like in Starship Troopers (which I'm going to watch for the first time in a few minutes ;)) is suppose to look pretty good. That, or FULLY Computer Generated would be cool also (look at the opening theme of the Expansion, I'd even be happy with a movie that looked like that, for the time it was made that is ;)).

I didn't bother to read this whole thread, but YES. I do want a Starcraft movie. I remember watching the intro cinematic for Brood War and thinking "This is so cool. I could watch hours of this." The whole sci-fi thing is great. Kinda reminds me of Starship Troopers, but this is better.

(using my termanology :S) I think good 'ol Lucas did them in that order because he probably couldn't come up with an EXTREMEMLY detailed plot at the time for background on the characters (As many people think he did that, but did a horrible way of displaying it.) and also it was different and kind of cool at the time (I wasn't born then, but I've watched em all ;)) also it was set in the future so it was episode IV rather than episode I. Hope that made sense....
