hey, ive been playing starcraft for a long time online and off, but just recently i started playing online w/ my friends.
Every once in a while, when one of us trys to join another's game, it says "too high latency to the creator" or somthing like that. so then the person who is making the map logs out of online starcraft, logs back in, and creates the map again. That usually solves the problem, or occasionally we need to do it 2 or 3 times.

NOOOOOW however, we have the same problem, "too high latency to the creator", so then the creator logs back out and in, and makes the map again, but everytime we do this, it still is too much of a latency difference, and nothing seems to fix it. We've switched who creates the maps to see if that works but it doesnt. we've also tried restarting not just starcraft but our whole comps, but that doesnt fix it either.

I've run out of ideas, and now i need HELP!! please, if you have any ideas at all post them!
thanks a ton if your ideas actually work...

This is a lot like my router, my router turns off and resets when I try to host for downloaders in Battle.net. I bet it's a (wireless) router. Routers suck for gaming unless you buy very good one or that it says it's specifically good for gaming, which I don't think a lot of people end out having...

Try opening your router's ports to StarCraft. More info here; http://portforward.com/cports.htm. That means allowing the router to let StarCraft to transfer data more openly. In the website, just pick the game you want to portforward, then the model number of your router which probably identified at the bottom of your router. And follow the instructions.

Also try to do something like this with your Firewall.

If you know you already did that or know you didn't have a router and forced me to guess that you did, last thing I could think of is NOT to host maps that require other people to download, like original Blizzard maps, if not try to make sure everyone already has the map. Downloading\Hosting might be the problem.

thanks for the help...
i do have a router, and i'll follow that link you gave me to see if it helps.
but like i said the problem comes when i'm playing with my friend, and the only kind of maps he likes are just normal starcraft, no usemapsettings, so i know that i always make maps that he has.
but yea, i'll check the router out, thanks
