As many users here at starcraft.org know, the website Staredit.net went under. And all of it's rare maps. I just want anyone who can to help me remember the names of some old maps and possibly a spot where they can still be downloaded. Oh yea, and anyone else who is looking for a rare map feel free to add in

Map description:

1. A Marine special forces arctic map: the map allowed you to switch between the units from a beacon and used the ice theme. it came about around Marines Special Forces Advanced II. It was great. but really damn hard.

2. A well made 4 player rpg using the jungle template: this super feature rich map featured four unique starting towns for each player and multiple zones. It had the unique feature of lanterns which you had to place to explore the dark. If I remember correctly the filesize was huge due to custom sound effects (like 100mb), but it was worth it. Set underground, it had a really epic feel. the gameplay was pretty relaxed besidwes the occasional losing of your marine in the shadows.

That's it.

my guess is, if you cant find it, probably nobody else can either.
why not go around bnet playing ums', you might find maps similar to the ones you like. or look for staredit.net alternative sites.

Ok. I tried taking your advice and just leaving it, but this rpg was so damn well made. It was hosted on Staredit, and last I saw it was about three years ago. The biggest problem with the map I am thinking of was that it's filesize was well over 100mb's! The reason I can't let this map die is because if I remember correctly it was the product of at least two years work. So I am going to try even harder to describe this map in hopes that anyone who was really into the Starcraft rpg scene will remember it. So here goes:

Description: Firstly, Each of the four starting adventurers were marines. The map started off with each player in a different city each with it's own theme. One was a mining town, one was a protosslike haven with water, one was a town based solely off of geothermal energy and one was an agricultural city. These were safezones that you could always return to. When you left the cities through tunnels, you had to place spider mines to act as lanterns to see in the dark. Upgrades were really slow. You could buy things like compasses maybe and seeds. I loved the map for the great themeing and innovative design as well as super triggers and effects. I'll do some more searching for it, and if I can ind it I'll post it here so yall can play it over a lan or single player. wish I could remember more.

100 mb? no way... thats gigantic.
I think your thinking of 100 or 1000 kilobytes, but 100 megabytes? thats 1/10 a gigabyte, that'd be really hard to do.

I know the map hes talking about, if you search on the M&M depot you will find several threads about that map. However, no one can find it now.

try really hard to remember the map name, or anything close to it. fills in lots of gaps.

Not really. If you get carried away with the sound effects then you can easily mount a 100 MB map file.

I think he was talking about Æon or something like that, I recall playing a map, however I don't think it was 100MB because the most custom sounds it had was a constantly repeating BG song, which was very cool the first few times but got annoying after that.

Hopefully the Æ thing helps ;).

try googling Aeon and then some keywords in some search engines (etc, Aeon dungeons), make sure you add the word starcraft or SC at the end of each search term.

I'll do a really, really extensive search. And what's the full name of that M & M depot topic so I can at least find a name. If I can do that, I'll start using that string in google along with .scx and "starcraf" and it should show up. If I can even find a torrent I'll host it on my provider's page. probably after I see "Live Free or Die Hard". ;)

Haha I rock! The map's by qPirateKing. If i remember correctly, he also made 5th station! Jesus! He was so goddamn good! Anyways, keep this one alive. It's worth it.

I Found That:http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?p=480385

Update:Hah I was wrong about the size too. I guess one .wav and some really complicated triggers really can't add up to 100mb. Anyways, just FYI the LOH map needs you to be in the second player slot so just open it up multi player UDP and voila! save it so you can play it through single player! alternatively, you could just edit that trigger out, but I don't condone deprotection.

Bah, i was close, I knew it had an Æ in it at least ;), even though it was lower case. I might redownload it, I just don't remember it even having a good storyline personally just "spiffied up" RPG system that wasn't very spiffy...

the Daegor's rpg had a really good system, it just had a shitty end. If you can finish it, the ending to this one is seriously crazy satisfying. you're just like ahh... all of that walking around and killing zerglings and hydralisks over and over actually does pay off booya. Great great ending. Not as good as fifth station, though. That map as off the wall right out of one of those lucasarts adventure games. aaanyways, glad there's still a working dl up somewhere thank god for that fileplanet.com.

PLAY IT GO!
