I was just wondering if its possible to create my own units. I'm new to the whole modding and map making thing so I haven't figured out everything yet. And right now, I don't have the time to fiddle around with it until I figure it out. So if any of you could help me i'd greatly appreciate it.
Short answer: Yes, but only by replacing old units, so far as I know. I believe that there a few 'unused' units that you can replace, and of course there are also heroes that can be replaced.
someone will likely come along with a more detailed answer later.

Right, you can replace old ones, but not create new ones. The reason is that starcrafts dat files are alotted a certain amount of memory in the exe. If the number of entries in one of them are changed, starcraft won't load it and will error out.

Thanks for the help. I've got a couple more questions if you don't mind. My first question is, how do I get the Computer to attack in my custom made maps? I'm guessing it has something to do with a Trigger but they're still a bit too complicated for me. Oh and my other question is, how do I get enemies to just keep spawning and spawning until a certain time? Because i'm making a map were you play a Hero and you're supposed to defend something until a certain period of time from wave after wave of Zerg and/or Protoss. But I don't know how to do that or how to get it to stop and end in victory/defeat. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
For the foe AI players to work you must use a trigger for each PC player with an AI script to run on location (from the several that exist) that sets them to your liking. The easiest way for me to guide ya is to point out the Mapping FAQ thread (http://www.warboards.org/showthread.php?t=13285) because I'm sure that it's answered there somewhere. ;)
And welcome on board, Xombified'. :)
