Hey guys I've been playing for a while now but would appreciate some help on the game and how to play each civ in a better way.

Can anyone point me to some links for some help?
If someone wants to go a step further to help me out I have ventrilo, skype and MSN so just PM me and let me know.

Thanks

http://www.starcraft.org/

Basically any major SC pro network will have good strategy sections.

try
http://sc.gosugamers.net/replays.php
download around 60 replays and watch them with thought
play alot of 1v1's on similar maps like those you will see on the replays.

try 'op swbk' -channel on east server. People over there are usually willing to help your game and play some games too

He meant the use of "civ" as an abbreviation.

welcome R2D2. Yeah check out the gosugamers link up there for good replays. Also come on channel op swbk for further help since there are always many good players willing to lend a hand. Hope to see you around! :)

Advise.
1.watch replays
2.if you want to be good, than don't play fastest maps.

*"We are the arm of the Prophets, and YOU are the blade." isnt that what the Elite commander really says in the beginning of that first level with the Arbiter? wat is it called?
anyways, r2d2, you should strategize a lot, and then test those strategies, as well as watch .rep files and try to copy the strats of the pros.

Damn, Ktan went on a rampage up there. Also, just watch some replays and stuff. Play the campaigns.

Wow, proves how much of a geek you dudes are. You let it take you over. I mean, c'mon who cares if people have been referring to them as races this entire time. Not to mention the correct and technical term is actually 'species' so that we don't confuse it with 'race' as in 'ethnicity'.

Civilization is also an excellent term as it takes it apart from species of animals. Rather, these are sentient species with civilizations, then simply 'races' or 'species' of animals.

I don't like teaching noobs though unfortunately, sorry.

EDIT: Campaign mode isn't worth it, unless your looking for some alone time. A better way to learn alot faster is to consult someone who's played the game, and they can teach you the standard techniques of a single civ (oops, race actually) in a matter of minutes. But if you really know NOTHING of the game, then I'd seriously suggest you take a look at the tutorial in the campaign mode.

Zerg are generally an excellent start for online players. Blizz and others claim that terran are best for beginners, but that's untrue because a beginner can't win any games with terran no matter how hard he tries. For zerg, there's a small chance you could win simply by expanding and massing and that's it. I'm not saying massing is the ultimate strategy, it's just a means to a possible win (against say, the computer or some other newb) and a way to pull beginners into the game.

K'tan has to be right though. Ppl seriously need to STFU once in awhile.

With me, any video game I play, I always play the campaigns first before playing online. It REALLY helps!!! well for me atleast, especially with halo 2 and half-life.

Halo and Half Life have NOTHING to do with this RTS topic.

In StarCraft I have played the Terran and Zerg, but I am more skilled with the toss than of the three.

If you need help on the Toss, ask me.
