I've beaten the DC campaign with the SM, Tau, and halfway with the Necrons (in normal mode). When I decided to play a nice skirmish game with a random computer while being Chaos, I faced the most unsuspected predicament in my whole...experience in DoW.

In short maps like (2)Quest's Triumph I can't beat up the Necrons. Since I didn't save any replays, I'll just descriptively tell what happened as good as I can. I've tried Chaos Marine rushes, machine attacks, Raptor Squad rushes; game after game. I'm starting to think that the Necrons are rigged. During the Chaos and Raptor Squad rushes, I was able to push two squads in the Necron base, causing a lot of damage, blowing out the majority of their power cores and obelisks. Yet, out of no where, a single group of Flayed Ones came out and attack my incoming reinforcements. They single handedly dominated two squads of a Raptor and Chaos Marines, later my Chaos Lord and Cultists. I sent my attacking squads to come back and defeat the Flayed Ones,... then they died also. The battle against 1 squad of Flayed Ones took me like 6-10 minutes, enough time for the Necrons to recover and get Immortals ;/. Damn Flayed Ones. I just can't beat them. My Chaos Lord dies too easily, my possessed machines die too easily, everything I throw at them just seems to end out in a blood bath for them.

Any suggestions from an experienced player?

First lesson of Dawn of War: Necrons are imba.

Take note however, that while Necrons are fucking imba, the computer player is horribly retarded, and you should be able to beat it easily on Insane difficulty.

Here is an example of how it is done (take note that my Chaos isn't great):
