I took a look at it, and I have only recently begun playing Tournement maps and melee maps altogether. With that said...
I only see a few problems with your map:
- There are way too many minerals around each base and expansion.
- There's a lot of terrain that is just useless to the north/southern ends of the bases, try to incorporate them a little more than just being there.
- 1on1 maps tend to be symmetrical to support balance, yours is not, however it could work with proper testing.
- Terrain looks a little too "perfect" in some areas, mainly by the blue starting location, the ledge to the left is a little too straight.
As I said, I have only recently begun playing tournament style maps, so take my comments however you want.
I think that if you test this map and balance it out, it could actually be pretty entertaining to play on ^^.

More doodads
More terrain detail
More expos with about 10% resources as you have now
7-10 minerals and 1 gas is standard. Be sure to place them so you can mine off of them all without needing to remove a block to get to another.
Set up something like this

Sorry, but this isn't a Tournament quality map or for a serious balanced game. Take a more thought in balance. There isn't even the same amount of minerals distributed for each player's starting location and expo. The terrain is...unappealing; no doodads and unrealistic terrain...just big space of open land with one hill on someone's side of the river. Minerals are just grouped in a cluster of squares.
There isn't much of what I can say about your map. Open some maps under the Ladder folder in your StarCraft directory or download the maps in the WGtour website and look at those. They'll give you a better understanding in what a real map needs.

Take away the resources until you have one gas and 7-10 minerals. Try to make the formations made by the resources the same/similar for both bases. Add more expansions, and make sure they have around 6-8 minerals (maybe 9) and 1 gas.
Make sure neither player has too many more good/bad things (high ground, hard to defend natural expos, etc.) compared to the other player. Here, blue has easier access to that mineral expo at the bottom-right corner, so you will need to do something to fix that.
The map is visually unappealing. Make the ground more varied and natural-looking, and add doodads (not too many, thought).
Make sure that the map in general is not too open or cramped.
If you do those things, this map could be pretty good.

Tnx guys... I'll be working on those... after I'm done, I'll try to place the map here... It will be more balanced and interesting.... Tnx Again
ehehe i edited it... like what you guys said, those individual islands are now deleted and the expo that blue team has in the lower left has the same for red team... i scattered a few minerals on the raised jungle tile... i added bridges... added critters.. added some tree doodads... is this ok? and also i made another one for sheer time killing pleasure

Getting better, but the middle islands are a Terran's dream. Tanks will blow anything coming over those small bridges, I'd tell you to make them wider, but that's a more advance aspect of mapping. Right now, just work on the basics.
Use a variety of mineral types per node, rather than ALL Type 1 at one, then ALL Type 2 at another and so on. Scrap the Jungle Devour one, it's just plain bad, the other one has potential.
The mineral setup at the central islands is very hard odd, keep to the standard arc you see in other maps, it's the best mining, and looks better. Unclutter the southeast island.
Another thing, might want to work on your names.
(# of players)Name(n=melee/o=obs)
Example would be a map of mine wich is here in the Maps and Mods depot right now:
(2)Revived Conflict(n)
If you would like: I could edit your map to show you how to make it more balanced. But that's up to you, I only edit others' maps with permission.

(2)Revived Conflict(n) ok I'll check this one out
If you would like: I could edit your map to show you how to make it more balanced. But that's up to you, I only edit others' maps with permission. You can edit the map if you like... just as long you give me some credit on that map... looking forward to the map...

Ok, I'll have it done by the end of the week.
Note: I'll give you credit, but I'm only doing this just to show you examples of what I'm talking about, which is a lot faster and easier to uderstand that words.

Hmm it looks much better now. With Jungle Devour, scrap that and work only on the other one.
Now, the resource placement is awkward in two islands. A resource building may have a hard time fitting in the left expansion.
Place a Nexus/Command Center/Hatchery BEFORE the minerals and gas so that they actually fit well.
There's more but i don't have enough time. This map is better than before and with help from TitanWing it should be able to be turned into something good.

Here's my edited version. It's not much and there's still a lot of balance problems, but the resources are a little better and the bridges are widened.
Just an example.

I give an A+ on terrain, and I love those widened bridges, I can only imagine how much more fun it would be to play with widened bridges. And yes there are many balance issues, and umm, get the critter out of the other person's starting place, those are all my suggestion.

Heh, missed that little guy...
A+ on terrain? You're an easy judge...I thought it was only average...ofc I'm known to make jaw-dropping realistic terrain. ^_^
I had to pull it together quickly though, had to be somewhere.
