Hey guys was just wondering if any of ya knew how to fix a little problem I am having.

Whenever I talk on Ventrillo I am clear, but if anyone talks all they hear instead of me is static.. really horrible static. Same with game sounds. They may here me but they also here the sounds my game makes, and it's very loud.

I checked the Ventrillo site but thier FAQ doesint quite address the issue as it should, so I was wondering if one of you had an idea on how to remedy this for me.

Greatly appreciate it! ^^

Whats happening addresses your soundcard. You have an intergrated sound card correct? This is a problem that plagues me when I use vent as well.

What is happening is that the sound on your card is feeding back through your speakers and your mic. So that whenever someone keys up the sound from their talking goes into your mic's path, then back into the speaker path, creating a very loud feedback loop. This does not happen to everyone, but only to those who have the same problem of their sound cards bleeding over.

Sadley there is no easy fix for this problem, save buying a non-intergrated soundcard that you can place in a PCI slot.

And yes, everyone does suffer when the loud feedback happens, sad as it is. I hope this can help allievate something, but for what you can do is becareful about keying up when someone else does, and besure to shut your thing off asap if someone keys up unexpectably.

By the way, what game do you play over vent? I play Shadowbane and I love it, it's a free MMO RPG, as good as WoW, but free now.

The problem might also be that you have Ventrilo set to retrieve sound input from the system mixer as opposed to the microphone line, as there is a wide difference between the volumes of microphone input and what your system mixer outputs over your line-out. Check under the Voice tab of the setup screen to make sure that under the Hardware Input Mixer heading, Line is set to Microphone (or something similar).
